Rents and Loft are two of the worst players to don the stripes in years.
You are right, they are both awful. Except Rents. :)

Thought Rents did OK today. Loft was ineffectual, even after switching wings with Cox. Robinson appeared to have my drive & purpose, getting in more inviting positions to receive the ball.

Thought El-Abd & Lynch were below par. Hart ran his socks off as usual & seemed to take a pounding from their strikers most of the game.

Purely my own views though. Off for a drink:drink:

Thought that Rents did OK an improvement on Mayo at LB. Desperately need Butters back or bring in another central defender because El Bad and Lynch were awful today and responsible for both goals. At least DW acknowledged that in his interview with Adrian Hawes so perhaps he may put it right on the training ground.

Does anyone else think we deserved a point today? I thought so. We certainly did play poorly in the first half, and it would have been 2-0 except for a great bit of reaction play by Hendo who took a ball off the striker's toe from about 2 yards out.

But I thought we did OK in the second half. Their winner was very much against the run of play. We then had some great chances to equalise and there was a definite handball penalty at the end.

Given Allison and particularly Folan's strengths, I was surprised that Santos did not start. It must be a long-time since an Albion centre-half pairing lost so many regulation headers.

Still, Revell's great work on the right forced one of them off and Chesterfield brought on a big leftback to counter Revell. But the winner was again poor static defending against a straightforward one-two.

Incredibly chastening for Wilkins that neither Lynch nor El Abd really stepped up to the mark today. If he doesn't have confidence in Santos, then we must hope Hinshelwood gets match fitness quickly or that we look for a loan.

These soft goals we are conceding are just making things unnecessarily nervous at the moment and detracting from the progress we are making through the likes of Dean Cox and Alex Revell, who I thought were our two best players today, and not for the first time this season.

Robinson was a catalyst also for our attacking play in the second half, but if only the first touch was just that bit more consistent, and he could get those two great chances he had on target, he would be some player, as it is he is still guilty of extremes of play. But with Frutos and Loft fading from the picture, I guess he will get a lot more chances to put this right.

When they realised that Loft wasn't the answer to the problems and we were losing every header in defence Wilkins should have brought on Santos for Loft moved EL Bad back to right back and pushed Harty up to right midfield.
