BHA - Officially the 17th Biggest Club in The Championship

Having looked at the ground capacity of the championship sides next season, we are actually one of the smaller capacity grounds (at the moment) and rank at 17th.

1/ Leeds 40,204
2/ West Ham 35,333
3/ Middlesborough 35,100
4/ Derby 33,597
5/ Southampton 32,689
6/ Coventry 32,500
Leicester 32,500
8/ Notts F 30,602
9/ Ipswich 30,300
10/ Birmingham 30,016
11/ Cardiff 26,828
12/ Crystal Palace 26,309
13/ Hull 25,404
14/ Reading 24,200
15/ Barnsley 23,009
16/ Burnley 22,546
17/ BHA 22,374
18/ Bristol City 21,479
19/ Portsmouth 20,700
20/ Millwall 20,146
21/ Watford 19,900
22/ Blackpool 16,750
23/ Peterborough 15,314
24/ Doncaster 15,231

Looking at the ground sizes the 10 clubs with a capacity of more than 30,000 will I reckon all be expecting to be there or thereabouts & with most of the 'smaller' clubs fully established in the championship it shows what a task is ahead of us. Size is not everything (as they say!). Blackpool one of the smallest grounds tasted top flight footie last year & Swansea of course with a smaller capacity than the Amex have reached the 'promised land'.

However, if size, is testament to the final rankings then 17th in our first season in the championship seems about right to me!

What do you think?

Its how many you get in thats the important bit not what the capacity is.
Our average Home gate next season will be in the top 10 easily

dont really view this stat as relevant. As 99% will agree id rather have 22,000 through the gates most weeks than 18000 in a 30,000+ stadium! only large stadiums who sold most tickets were Norwich and Derby with i suppose Forest,Ipswich and Cardiff getting close?

While we are not up there with the biggest teams in terms of actual capacity having looked at this seasons average attendance table I don't think we will do too badly. Taking an average attendance of 20,000 we would sit 9th ahead of clubs like Ipswich, Pompey, Middlesboro and even QPR. We could quite easily be one of the better supported sides in the league and that could spur on our exploits on the pitch.

1 Leeds United (7) 27299
2 Derby County (19) 26023
3 Norwich City (2) 25386
4 Leicester City (10) 23666
5 Nottingham Forest (6) 23275
6 Cardiff City (4) 23194
7 Hull City (11) 21169
8 Sheffield United (23) 20632
9 Ipswich Town (13) 19615
10 Reading (5) 17682
11 Coventry City (18) 16310
12 Middlesbrough (12) 16269

Since when has banks and banks of empty seats been inspiring for a team ?
Unlike most teams in the division, our place is going to be RAMMED for every match, the place will be rocking.

That table means absolutely nothing. Ridiculous statement if you think we'll be the 17th big club next season in the Championship based on those stats.

Exactly. If we get say, 20000 or thereabouts it'll be 90% filled. Only Norwich topped that last season.

Indeed attendance not capacity is needed. But things will change for other clubs too. Can't accurately use our expected new figure and everyone else's historical figure. Though obviously know why doing so just being pedantic.
