managed 21 out of 21 in last three days. Been very lucky with goals and red cards flying around so can see that I should / could have lost a few bets which would have destroyed my profit. Its all a bit of fun and given me £11 profit with a £3/£8 game in play. Like to think I have a bit of football knowledge, I have no idea on horses and im £4 down on them as I cant read which way the odds will go in the betting market before the off

Not many people can tell how the betting will go between the first show and the off! You may be able to get an edge by trading the selections of popular tipsters like Tom Seagall and Hugh Taylor who's selections are well back. The same may also apply with the horses of gambling stables (e.g: Gordon Elliott). I imagine a lot of people already do similar, not my cup of tea though.

No worries.
On the betting exchanges like betfair, all your lay bets or liabilities show up as red. If you've read some of the replies here you'll have heard of the term " greening up"
Once you've traded out correctly, your liabilities will turn green to all your back and lay bets will be green. Hence, no lose bets.
Although, I can't, or should I say, wouldn't recommend any form of betting, although you can turn nice profits.
I've actually stopped for a while, due to a long illness and needing money so I withdrew my betfair account that had a nice fat 4 figure sum.

As long as ther's a winner yes you will recieve whatever amount you layed minus 5% charge

put £100 pound back in bank today to leave me with £30 playing money, which I placed on paok to win in the Greek cup but someone luzzed a chair from the top tier and hit the linesman after a dodgy offside. Game called off and not sure when / if I get my stake back

Let's say we have Liverpool vs fulham
Expected odds Liverpool 1.3 the draw 4.5 fulham 9.0
Okay, so lay the draw before kick off for £10.
(when you lay, you're basically the bookie)
So that's £10 at 4.5 which means I'm liable to lose £35 but stand to win £10
So, Liverpool score and go 1-0 up.
The prices will change to something like
Liverpool 1.1. The draw 8.6 fulham 36.0
Now I back the draw for £5
So that's £5 at 8.6 so in real money I stand to win £38 if it is drawn
So finally, if the match is drawn I make £38 minus £35 = £3
and if somebody wins I make £10 minus £5 = £5
therefore I've traded out to a no can lose bet to win either £3 of £5

Unless its 0-0 in which case you be fcuked as the price gets worse. You can of course back the 0-0 as well as laying the draw but then that means the price has to get a bit worse to break even.

I agree this did use to be a great money maker but the value has gone in these markets to an extent unless it is 2 teams who are very evenly matched.
