Faded elegance or a dump? I'm reading mixed reviews online!

Anyone got any experience of the Brighton Hotel on Kings Road?

Going to a wedding reception there next month - not been before though so have no idea what it's like. Apparently according to the bride and bride (yes it's a civil jobby) the rate of hire was reasonable...

Always liked the look and location of that hotel. Even when it opened (as the Oak Hotel was it?) it was advertising rooms for thirty quid a night. If you were only here for the nightlife, it would appear to be the ideal choice. I mean, as long as it's got a bed and a roof, it would seem you could hardly go wrong.

(edited - Doh! I'm thinking of a completely different hotel altogether, the one between the Odeon and Wetherspoons - tho the exact same observations apply)
