Those 4 are very different musical styles. I saw ZZ Top before they were famous over here, and the Jam at least a couple of times and like both for different reasons. Very slightly before my time but Emerson Lake and Palmer were a top threesome (useless fact, Keith Emersons mum was my dinner lady at school).

Having played in serval bands with different line-ups, I always found 3-pices bands worked best for me as a player.

Good choices (apart from ZZ Top!) My fav has to be Yo La Tengo though
