I've got a wide range of musical tastes. Ever analysed what makes you like songs and what's in common between them all? For me, I think it's because I love a bit of rock/pop/classical/instrumental with a piano piece in it somewhere e.g.
Coldplay - Clocks
BH&TR - The way it is
Muse - Starlight
Lady Madonna - Beatles
Carnival of the Animals

...to name just a handful.

What others can that famed pit of expertise, NSC, recommend? I might have missed a few gems out there. As Ron Pickering used to say, "away you go"....

Not Elton John-Candle in the wind? :dunce:

Sorry, this thread should NOT contain any joanna's by Elton. I just hate the bloke. Thanks TSB for pointing this out. The thread could have been an unmitigated disaster without your early comment.

The Fatherland
Sympathy for the Devil. Best song ever, regardless of the piano.

How about some Meatloaf? (There's been some truly dire stuff involving pianos!!!)

Couple of recommendations I've not heard of there, cheers fella. Perhaps some that are less obvious is the point of my thread.

Doves Black and White Town is another I really like.

How come you never picked up on the Jim Steinman reference then?

Never heard of this bloke that's why, so I'm heading to I tunes shortly to hear a clip of some of these.

Oh dear. I find Steinman very derivative. He wrote the Bat out of hell albums along with Bonnie Tyler's "total eclipse of the heart". Big power rock that went on and on and on and on.

Personally, I don't mind a bit of 1970s Elton John. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and the Beown Dirt Cowboy are both excellent albums IMO.

Beautiful South featured pianos extensively. Madness - My Girl is a great track. Ben Folds - The Luckiest.

Are we allowed electronic music? Could I include OMD - Souvenir.
