The Hatch in Coleman's Hatch. A truly spelndid inn with delicious ales and truly fantastic food. They also do a proper full on breakfast if you get up to the forest for May day dawn

All depends what your looking for but the Three Moles at Selham is for me the best pub in Sussex finishing runners up in the National Camra Good Pub back in the 90's speaks for itself!

It certainly speaks for my mate John who ran it!

The Yew Tree at Arlington....top notch grub there too.

To tell you the truth, it all depends on what you're looking for in a pub. Good food, good ales, child friendly, live bands.

I enjoy my local...the Tallo Ho in Lewes. I can take my 7 year old daughter in there up to 9pm and there's usually a few kids in there whilst i have a pint.

But any of the country pubs are usually worth a shout on a warm sunny sunday afternoon.

A nice drop of Harveys is consumed in there regularly on a summer's evening on the way back from climbing......

Three Moles is great, but the Blue Ship at the Haven is spot on too, and is a CAMRA Heritage Pub.

As for the Riser at Nutbourne, superb beer and superb home made burgers. The Five Bells at West Chiltington, definately the best real ale around here, and a fine pub to boot.. .

Going to have to take issue with the 2nd post, The OysterCatcher, That has to be a joke. Unless we are talking best 'plastic replica chain pub', in Sussex.

Goring, Yes the Fox is still there, & The Horse & Groom is now The World's End, which isn't desperately different to my assessment of The OysterCatcher.

My own personal best would have to be, The George @ Eartham but I will probably change my mind while mulling it over in the bath.

I'm sorry to say that The Ram at Firle has been tarted up and is no longer quite the village pub it always was. Food is superb but take a second mortgage with you.

The Yew Tree at Chalvington remains a favourite with me and for a more "urban" experience, you can't beat the Gardeners Arms in Lewes.

I second the votes for the Yew Tree and the Shepard and Dog. The Juggs in Kingston was good a few years back too!

Cricketers is great for grub and you get Harveys from the wood.

I used to play footy out the back at the Yew Tree in Chalvington. A greaty place, first pub I ever got pissed in......on Watneys (hangs head in shame ).

the clifton in Worthing has to be the worst pub with out a doubt.

That one near Tescos in Durrington isn't much better either.

You're obviously too young to remember The Clifton in the 70's. It was frequanted by the most dedicated BHA supporters around and they would be a match for any drinkers you could find. Great pub, happy memories.

Worst pub I've been in for a while was the Weatherspoons in Chaple Road, Worthing. Couldn't have a pint of Guinness as they were cleaning the pipes ( bloody stupid time to do it, 12.30 on a Sunday lunch time ) took 5 minutes to explain what a light and bitter was to to the spotty faced pre-pubescent bar boy, only to be told they don't serve light ales and he's never heard of such a drink. Oh for the days when pubs served beer rather then alcho- pops aimed at kids or piss called lager for those who can't really drink.
