The free state of Kemp Town
The answer is the beach, quite obviously.

Head down to sunny B town and get yourself some sort of pub lunch before heading down the seafront with a cool bag of tinny's.

Splendid

Westdene and Burgess Hill are nice places, but Westdene is really a estate built in the last 50 years that is a part of Withdean, you guys have been brainwashed by Brighton Council in the last 40 years, into believing its a surburb in its own right, when its really a part of Withdean it does not even appear on maps, Burgess Hill and Withdean, yes should be twinned. As BurgessDean, not BurgessDene. :jester:

tom witham, i believe we are missing some key ingredients here in this masterplan

while i do like the idea of a peter crouch bridge, i firmly believe we cannot just neglect other people who are worthy of statues - those along the lines of noel, dale, bruce, michael howard. they too are worthy of becoming a part of the peter crouch bridge

i also believe that to allow for people to walk across it at night and enjoy the stunning views that it will offer across the countryside of sussex, we should light it with beacons, allowing natural light from a fire to show our disciples the way. i also firmly believe that this fire should be provided by burning efigees of james blunt among others

i also believe that the bridge should be maintained by a set of nuns, each whom have an image of the big pc on the front of there gowns

around the bridge - wild gazelle trotting magestically, and giraffes that children can feed peanuts too with their bare hands

to quote martin - i have a dream.....

But the bridge would be a good way to get to the Theatre of Trees as well at WITHDEAN.

Shut it, Strike! Please stop spouting your ill-informed and wicked opinions - you are clearly JEALOUS as well. Has anyone ever told you a little known fact that Brighton was actually built off of Westdene. Yes, Brighton is the SUBURB. We don't claim to be a suburb - we know we are more than that. We are a glowing light in a shadow of doom, a place where people can celebrate themselves, a place of liberty to all men worldwide. For you to mock all the years of rich history and success on an INTERNET MESSAGE BOARD is frankly demeaning, humiliating, and hurtful. Hang you head in shame, Charles:p

Sorry Westdene is a pleasent place, you got to know the truth, ask Lord Bracknell who did stuff in Brighton when ESCC operated there, he won't deny what I say. Not only joking, Westdene is a class place. When I hopefully move to old Ifield Green, can that be transported from the edge of Crawley to this BurgessDene.

Bugger, I forgot all our other favourite people. Ok here's the plan - we put a GIANT statue of the big PC (all 198cm of him) at both ends of the bridge, a sort of scintillating beginning and end to any trip. Then, the other legends get their hall of fame en route. Amongst your names, I would like to add Rory Delap, Ann Widdecombe, Frank Sinatra, Gary Rhodes, Phil Babb, Terry Wogan, and Michael Parkinson.

Amongst my other plans were a model village, authentic mosque, wild llamas, and the construction of a VOLCANO! As for lighting issues, I say we hang glow worms from every available vantage on PCB - enough to maybe power a small village?

Right, when do we start building?

Good stuff.

Just like the rest of them, you come crawling back. Well don't think it's going to easy to win a place in my Kingdom of the Elite - you are going to have to pass a strict induction, including being able to balance jugs of water on your head, write a book with your feet, play the flute with no hands, and compose a song which reflects the rural ambience of the PC bridge.

Then, I MIGHT let you join the team on this revolutionary masterpiece:D

kk thats kool, anyway I give to your new town this 12th Century St Margarets Church, in Ifield which will give the place more history.

Best be off now anyway.

I would think you would have to do a f*** load of work to make Burgess Hill as glorious as you hope.

I have just had an ice cream on the beacon, it is indeed a most fantastic day.

One of the things I did when I was with ESCC was sponsor the publication of a leaflet that the Regency Society produced, extolling the virtues of Westdene. But that was ten years ago.

As you almost say ... a pleasant place, with an interesting history.

tom witham - i would like to add the possibility of alan lee, the poorer mans peter crouch as a statue, along with tia-tia-tiatoo. Possibly even Dave Beson Phillips and Ainsley Harriott to ensure we have some black representation

I do like a model village, and a volcano would be lovely. May I also suggest the construction of some sort of water feature in a niagra falls style, being named after john major, the major falls. and speaking of john, a mammoth all-you-cant eat asian, named edwinas curry

if we are going for a mosque, why not create a religion hexagon, with each side consisting of a relgious place of worship. a mosque, a church, a synagouge, a gurdwara, a hindu temple and a vihara

we should make this town a haven of worship
