Best opposition players

During an Albion game, what opponent player has made you go Wow, I wish we had him.
The one that I will never forget was John Barnes for the scousers at the Goldstone in the F.A cup replay in 91 after we had drawn 2-2 at Anfield. The guy was in his pomp, and normally when a decent oppo player gets the ball he gets heckled. But not Barnes, I just remember every time he picked up the ball a hush decended on the full house goldstone that night. The bloke was mesmerising.

Dean Ashton when he was at Crewe. Clearly had a big future. I remember being hugely impressed with CMS at Withdean last year.

Kevin Phillips for me. Class Premiership striker, who reminded me of Steve Bull in his prime. Why, oh why couldn't he have persuaded his Mrs and kids to move to Brighton? Two cracking goals at the Amex and two more at Bloomfield Road (true those were partly down to our defending, but there was little we could have done about the ones at the Amex). The clever thing he did for me also was to notice how far back our centre midfielders were playing. This forced the defence to play on the edge of our area. He then occupied the gap between our defence and midfield, and did not even need to jump when they sent up high balls to him.

I was really hoping we'd take a punt on le fondre and purchase him from Rotherham. Shame we didn't as he looked class for reading at stains on Friday night.
