after the thread of leeds chasing murray , surely theres more than 5 better strikers in the league then murray . E.G Holt , Barnard , Lambert , Beckford , Austin , Paynter .

Which one would you like to see at the withdean .

Personally Lambert wins for me

Out of that list only Beckford and Lambert are better than Murray.

Perhaps Barnard too- a player I highly rate. But Murray is most definitely up there, and if he stays fit and consistent next season could lead us to promotion.

I think that Barnard is the best striker in Div 1 for all round ability. He is better than Lambert who relies on set ball situations for a lot of his goals. Beckford is good playing from a route one situation but Barnard is the only one I would compare with Glen Murray or say is possibly better skill wise.

Having said all of that I think that if Norwich go up Holt could be available as he has proved he cant hack the Championship so would like us to go after him to play with Murray as a target man for Glen to play off of.

Murray is behind all of those strikers on that list IMO. I rate him highly but he cannot be considered in the same bracket as them yet ... he squanders too many opportunities. That's the difference between him (15-20 goal a season man) and them (25+ goals a season). Hopefully he can improve on his finishing and become one of the top strikers in this league.

No way does Billy Paynter deserve to be even on the same page as those others. He's been a journeyman for years at this level and has had one decent run since Austin hit form.

Beckford is talented but lazy, Holt & Lambert decent but won't make it any higher than League 1, Austin looks a cracker but is still only half a season into his career. Barnard's a great poacher IMHO.

Murray is class by the way, can't wait to see him with a full pre-season under his belt and some good service from the first game.

Considering lambert takes the spot kicks and free-kicks im not surprised he has so many goals, how many spot kicks has he score:glare:

regardless of spot kicks and free kicks (a goal is a goal) he has something like 16 assists i think they said yesterday and his overall link play and hold up for the team... plus in terms of goals.. its a about 80 in 150 games for bristol r and southampton

also im not saying murray has improved cause of his goal scoring... more his work rate for the team and his movement
