Following on from today's quiz, what are your best 5 coin-op arcade games?

Only requisite is that it had to appear in an arcade - no console emulators etc!

In no particular order -

Galaxian - just a classic game and sound of the bullets still gets me,
Carnival - those dive bombing ducks still get me,
Gorf - great gameplay
Gauntlet - best multi play and a complete bun fight when the food appears, every man or elf, wizard etc for himself

and of course the one that started it all - Space Invaders .

If enough interest will start a world cup style poll to find NSC's best voted Coin Op

My personal Family Fun favourites:

Ten Yard Fight - simple American Football sim. But you could make a game last for 5-10 minutes, an age in those days
Asteroids - BOM...BOM...BOM... Tense. "Get the spaceship!"
Spy Hunter - fairly dull but again, your 10p lasted a while.
Scramble - difficult but great: never once made it past the fireballs
Star Wars - never since seen a version of this once very popular game BITD: you were flying around shooting towers, then destroying the Death Star, the usual stuff.

A game of Defender could literally be over in less than a minute if you weren't careful. Well mine were.

Sleeping on the roof
Side Arms - great music
Nemesis/Gradius - first of the 'option' type of game I came across
Gauntlet II - blue wizard shot the magic potion
Xevious - again, great music :)
Phoenix - one of the first games with a boss level
Ladybug - like Pacman, only harder, and I was terrible at Pacman.
The football game they used to have in one of the arcades in West Street that proclaimed 'IN GOAL!!!!' when you scored.
Defender - pure arcade game, once again I was terrible at it due to TOO MANY BUTTONS!!!!

edit: oh and I forgot Space Harrier :( And then there's all the pinball machines such as Haunted House.

Oh I think there's interest all right. I'm hoping that people a lot clever than me could post online versions of some of these classics, if they exist out there at all.
