Difficult call.... saw Thin Lizzy twice.. brilliant ! ..... I saw Belle and Sebastian at the Dome last year and they were bloody good... .... from what I have seen on Youtube, The Wombats look dead good too ...I have tickets for REM at the Rosebowl in August so we may have to re-open this post then ?

Hard to chose

I was going to put The Clash; they did play the Top Rank, Brighton in Jan 1980.

The Who - Charlton, '76 - still the loudest ever concert, I think.
Bob Marley at the Brighton Conference Centre, 1980
Any one of the many times I saw The Jam

Mojo article this month reminded me how entertaining Kid Creole and The Coconuts were live.

Motorhead - every time I've seen them.
The Meteors, again, every time I've seen them.

And, er, Bon Jovi.

And, er, Bon Jovi.

They're my pick (to probably very little surprise from those who know me). They were absolutely fantastic live in 2006, 2 hours + of great entertainment and stadium rock at it's very best. Can't wait to see them again on June 11th.

Honourable mention to country singers Kenny Chesney and Pat Green, who I saw at MSG in New York last year, and who are very good live performers.

I also hope to add REM to my list after I see them in Cardiff in August.

Thin Lizzy (twice, the third time sadly was very average) and Springsteen at Earls Court who far exceeded my already high expectations.

Anyone remember "The Drivers" who came from the East Grinstead area and played all over the South East 25+ years ago and particularly "The Cartoon" in Croydon (but I forgive them for that). Consistently excellent live band with good original material
