Filbert Street at Leicester took some beating-the old away end tucked under the seats above could make 500 fans sound like 5000.

Old stands like Kenilworth Road, Roots Hall or London Road always sound amazing. Not sure how much of that sound escapes the low roof though or whether it's just deafening underneath it.

Which reminds me. I really want to go and see us at Roots Hall and Kenilworth Road again!

this is a very valid point, the first paragraph & more so the second

If we are looking at all-round acoustics, can I put in a plea for some sound-absorbent cladding on the walls of the North Stand concourse? The current echoing chamber makes it almost impossible for me to have a conversation in there - and my hearing problem is nowhere near as bad as some people have.

Not the real one
Having watched the north London derby today, I think the Amex does have superb acoustics. I'm sure even the Palace game sounded as loud as that today. All those that were saying our rivalry match wasn't up to derbys, is very wrong. It might not be up there with the old firm but it definitely stands up next to the atmos at White heart lane this afternoon.

Sorry, I know you said English grounds, but Dortmund's has to be the best I've ever been to. Sounds like an opera house.

Lech Poznan was electric and deafening, they did all that silly dancing that Manchester City fans have copied! The Poles were absolutely crazy. Very gloomy city though.

I'm always amazed by the sound when Stoke score at home. (And rather pissed off, of course)

They were piss poor when we played em :) p'raps it was all too easy for them but I was very disappointed with the 'so called' loudest fans in the Prem.

The seaside.
Bramall Lane. Shamefully had never been there prior to this weekend. Most sound enclosed away end (low low roof etc) I've encountered in a long long time. Like a proper old school 80s away end (apart from the presence of seats).
