When clubs haven't named the full 25 they can register a new player into the 25 man squad outside of a transfer window, but that player would have had to have been a free agent before the most recent transfer window closed. It's how West Ham managed to sign Patrice Evra in Feb 2018.

Just checked the rules and he’s about 12 weeks too old to be eligible as an U21 for the 19-20 season, unfortunately. If only his mum could’ve clenched for a few weeks.

Academic really though. Despite having over 2 years left on his contract, he’s morally Leeds’ player. We had no idea that he was any good and only signed him as a 16 year old, spent money developing him for 5 years and refused to include an option to buy clause in his loan deals for the LOLs.
