What I mean is who is your all time less than gifted comical Albion player? Or if you like a player that was barracked by fans or was just plain usless only to be loved later. i.e. Peter Smith, Warren Aspinal.

For Me, it has to be John Crumplin. When he was breaking into the side in 1987 he could hit the roof of the North or Southstand with every cross or shot or cross-come shot. He was Crap. then over the next two seasons his awkward inadequate footballing skill began to shine and he bamboozeld the opposition full backs with looking like a liitle boy with rosey red cheeks and fooling them into thinking he was scared to get near the ball and then whipping in a pinpoint acurate cross. Studdenly the transformation was complete into "Johnny Crumplin Football Genius". With a little help from Gulls Eye and Harty the T-Shirts sold (still got mine). It all came together on the 26th of January 1991 Away at Liverpool in the 4th round of the FA Cup when Crumplin did a superb marking job on the Champions star John Barnes, together with a deep cross to set up the equalizer.

For me its John Crumplin but how many more of them are there?

Polling North Standers
Wonder player needs a little bit of
Jimmy Case's aggresion
Peter Smith's determination (that ones for you Seagullible)
Ian Chapman's left foot and
Steve Foster's headband

hmmmn. maybe Leon Knights heading 3 out of 4 goals with his head can't be bad.

Stuatr Munday Ha! Class.

Remember that Boxing day 3-2 winner at the Goldstone on Boxing day, Pure Quality fluke. Came off the top of his head and looped into the top corner....sounds good doesn't it...but from 25yards out!!!!!!!!

Hither (sometimes Thither)
I was always a fan of Andy Kennedy. He was quite clearly not particularly interested in football, but his page 3 girlfriends and general pansy flair made him the Goldstone romeo once Diggers had left. Boxing Day about 1993 when Crumplin scores a sweet 20 yard left-footer is one of my favourite albion moments. As he celebrates this feat, Kennedy can be seen dancing next to him like he's at a Nolans concert.

Gerry Ryan - He used to be out of the side for spells. Then he'd come back - as sub initially, and play amazing, normally scoring a goal in the process. He'd start the next game and play well. Then it sort of went down hill. And he'd end up getting dropped for a spell. Then he'd come back - as sub initially...................

Thats how I remember it anyway.

Might be a bit unfair to put him in this but I always thought that Kevin Bremner always had an element to comical football. He was forever falling on the floor, often with the play nowhere near him. He knew where the goal was and scored regularly until a spell in 1988/89 when he was the subject of unfair jibes towards him during a goal drought. Didn't Gulls Eye go a front page about him a Brothel and not scoring and I think he took them to court or something. 110% effort from him though but with those curly blonde locks and not very good looks he was funny. Perhaps the best word to sum up Kevin is "unfair".

Was always Kevin Bremner for me - I remember the open goal he missed at Pompey from about 3 yards but I always thought he put in the hard yards so was always popular with me.
