Good for him.

If I had been treated like that by Capello and then asked to
'pop' along for a farewell match I'd tell Capello to stick it -

what a bloody cheek.

well like Robinson and Brown , if it doesn't want to play then f**k him quite frankly , no loss in my opinion

The whole point is that he DOES want to play though, and so by taking part in a "farewell match", he would be giving his approval and acceptance to the idea that he no longer will...

Don't be a twat Braders. Those mugs are not even in Beckhams league. The guy is a legend and a credit to the game. It amazes me someone of his quality can be over looked. He doesn't need to have legs, he has skill and a finished product. The best dead ball man in the world.

ehh? He doesn't want to be part of some stupid pointless friendly where "Beckmania" takes over.

Do you actually seriously think he would reject to play a proper game for England again?

IMO he shouldn't be in the team now anyway, and he should of accepted it as it would of been an extra cap to his name which is what his ego wants

Here we go, it's Bend Over Backwards for Beckham again! 6 pages of he's a role model/ legend/hero/national treasure/god etc. when in reality he was once a very good crosser and deliverer of a dead ball and now he is old and he isn't... lets let it go peeps

Supposed to be on the bench this Saturday when LA Galaxy play the Red Bulls – but, apart from injury problems, he’s not eligible to play for LAG until September 4. Most Red Bulls fans would rather see Rafa Marquez on his debut game.

the media really has got it in for Capello now haven't they. Every utterance, every gesture, every f***ing thing is going to be raked over until he's gone insane, England have lost a few games and he gets the sack.

alan,

I think you might be right.

But he seems to be his own worst enemy.

If the media want Cappello out, they will use the media!

A powerful way to control the people....similar to Dr Goebels back in the thirties I spose!

who else gets an international testimonial? anyone knocking Beckham for rejecting the idea (if he indeed has), is rather missing the point. he isnt retiring, he's ready to go on. personally ive always thought him a tad overrated (one trick, albeit very good), but noone can fault him for his passion and dedication.

To be honest he WAS a great player and now he's not. Beckham should just quit and give the younger players a chance. Capello is doing the right thing by not considering him, but he shouldn't of told everyone like that. Not just "he's old and shit"

Here we go, slag off Beckham for no other reason than you didn't think he was as good as his profile deserved, and make out he wasn't a good player because of it.

Beckham was a great player and much more than just a dead ball merchant, the Beckham blinkers seem to work on the positive and the negative.

As for giving the younger lads a go - all the options on the right have never come close to producing anything for england. SWP, Lennon and Walcott disappoint every time.

Er, couldn't tackle, head, dribble and short of pace, other than that....
