taken me a while to finally download it. mainly brcause i didnt want it to ruin my love of the originals....but MY GOD, its BLOODY GOOD.

got it on full blast now annoying next door(who should appreciate real music) and LOVING IT!

Yup, works best on full blast or through decent earphones as you prepare to shut all other senses away entirely from the rest of the world. There's plenty of richness still to be heard for the first time on later listens.

But I reckon the producers could still have been a little more ambitious with some of the arrangements - not just tinkered, but thrown even more different elements, song-snippets, layers together.
"Love 2", anyone?

Great album, not just another greatest hits rip-off. I have had the 5.1 DVD audio copy for a couple of months. My fav track - My Guitar Gently Weeps.

It is fantastic. It's very interesting to see people mentioning how good the George Harrison tracks are - that version of Something is a jaw-dropping piece of subtle remixing, esp. coming out of that backwards version of Sun King. It's worth the entrance fee alone.

George Martin always felt he'd short-changed Harrison while producing the Beatles; he rarely stopped apologising to him about it after they'd split up. I'd say he's gone out of his way to make posthumous amends to him.

I really dislike it. The mix obviously makes' it sound better but it just fucks up some of their best songs and some bits are make me cringe

Couldn't agree more ... it's good in it's own right, but that's NOTHING compared to hearing it through 5.1 with the DVD-A version you can get with it. Now that really IS like you've never heard the Beatles before...

I downloaded it off a P2P thing for free first, burned it on a cd, liked it, so bought a proper copy for the dvd-audio surround sound mix.

Might sound kinky, but WHAT A SOUND EXPERIENCE...

Then I got my Pet Sounds 5.1 and did the same.. good, but Love edges it.

I wonder if it helps to NOT have been as familiar with the original material, before listening to the remodelled version?

As mentioned before, don't bother with the cd.. the DVD is where the quality is.
