Maradona's team are greeted by 15,000 flag waving Argentinians on their return to Buenos Aires after being thrashed by Germany. And here I was imagining they'd be pelted with rotten veg and booed out of town.

This kind of reception would never happen to England after a 4-0 defeat, even by some miracle if we'd made the quarter finals :lolol:

They flew home economy class, apparently, the first flight they could get. There were only 40 random spare seats available so they scattered the squad througout the cabin. Very humbling.

A few of the players seem to be pleasantly surprised. A few of the others- Messi, Mascherano in particular- look rather more embarrassed or ashamed.

If our fans had turned out like this you could imagine John Terry would be leaning out the sunroof smoking a fat cigar :tosser:

They played some great football in the world cup, they have every right to be proud.

If England played football like them and got knocked out in the quarters I would be delighted!

Well they may have lost but at least their attacking SKILLS and FLAIR manager gave them a few things to be proud of.

Whereas England...our defence was shocking, our midfield anonymous, our forward line a waste of space, and don't even get me started on the goalkeeper. I'm struggling to find anything to be proud of there.

Argentina actually played football in the World Cup. They were well and truly owned by Germany, but none the less they have no reason to go home shrouded in shame. England on the other hand...

Exactly, there was a world of difference between the attitude and spirit of the wankers who represented England and the way Argentina played. They played some good football and gave their fans something to cheer, England were dire from the 1st kick of the ball to the tail between the legs exit

They should be cheered, in the same way as our players should be jeered.

That's our problem though we either hold the team is a position that is unacheiveable or unsustainable to they are the lowest of the low.

We need to accept that our system is wrong, this is what makes them the people they are.

Start looking at The Championship for the England players, get the best of English players playing the traditional English way and attract the true English players to this league letting the overly paid and commercialised Premiershite do there bit but if you want to play for England you get to the Championship ... NOT as crazy as it sounds or is it?

Again you're missing the point completely. I wasn't talking about the 2010 WC, I was talking about the mentality of some people and lack of patriotic people these days. I'm always proud of my country.

As said by others they did actually play well in the games before the Germany game.

The same can not be said of us.

But we drew 2-2 with Germany and Germany beat the argies 4-0 :)
