All you people saying the Argies played well up until the Germany game, they hardly had a difficult run of games, did they? They tripped up on the first decent side they met. A poor world cup by their standards, I would have thought - certainly not deserving of a celebration. Brazil got slaughtered when they got home, and they went out at the same stage.

Again you're missing the point completely. I wasn't talking about the 2010 WC, I was talking about the mentality of some people and lack of patriotic people these days. I'm always proud of my country.

I think you are wrong there are very patriotic people in this country, as you know I went to Madrid 2 weeks ago and the number of Spanish flags I saw was minimal, wheras in England there were loads of flags out before the WC. I don't want Spain to win the WC purely because of that, Spaniards are very lucky to have such a classy side and to have a great chance yet they do not seem to appreciate this.

It's not about patriotism at all, I think a lot of English people would burst at the seams with pride if we won. It's just a shame that the players that represent us are over-rated over-paid, over hyped, under skilled piles of toot and I think we have a right to say that, they are not beyond criticism which is different to patriotism.

There's note nough patriotic people and not as many people getting behind the England team as there should be. I call it the facebook generation. Mainly Premiershite fans - a few Arsenal spring to mind...

Some of us expect the England team to actually give us something to cheer about, apart from a few 10 minute spells in 3 of the 4 games they didn't. It's hard, for me, to get behind a team who LOOK like they don't really care and don't appear to have met each other untul they got on the pitch.

I don't have a Facebook account or support a Premiership team btw.

Is the correct answer. I think a lot of English people are patriotic and supportive....why are we reguarly (one of) the most supported side in the WC if we weren't. It's not the fans whom have let the country down, it is the players and we have every right to say so and it is not un patriotic to do so.

I do understand what you're saying - I think I've dug a bit of a hole for myself by just writing an initial 1 line post here as we've gone way of track. Like the facebook and Prem comment - made me smile anyways :)
