Of the 4 main rivals who should win BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2007, Sunday 9th December ?.

I suppose Hatton's fight the week end before will have a large bearing but for me Calzaghe all the way. Of the 4 Hamilton is the least deserving. There is a bettign coup going on today and I will let you in on it soon.

If top flight boxing was routinely broadcast on terrestrial TV it would be a straight fight (pardon the pun) between Calzaghe and Hatton.

Hamilton shouldn't really be considered as he blew it in the end and will no doubt have plenty of opportunity in the future BUT I'd rather watch him competing than a couple of boxers or a runner thanks, even if all three are more deserving of winning.

Well you've missed out Johnny Wilkinson for a start, who will get more votes than Calzaghe and Radcliffe combined. Apart from that, Hamilton. By miles.

Abort, retry, fail
Chrissie Wellington, as Falmer Flutter correctly pointed out in a previous thread.

Edit: Why are the footballers even given odds!? What on earth have they done over the past year!?

Justin Rose could be a decent outside bet...maybe.

Hamilton LOST he came SECOND and had by far the best car. Why do we always back LOSERS in this country. Calzaghe has been a WINNER for 10 years now.

has to be lewis. despite him crashing out in such a typically british style still managed to get the whole nation into motor sport. and on top of that he actually has quite a nice personality. well done that man.

He clutched defeat from the jaws of victory and it is not Nicest sports personality of the year either

James McFadden at 66/1 might be worth a look. You never know what the sweaties might do to subvert the voting!

It must be because Calzaghe is Welsh as he is by far the best of the lot in what he has achieved. Anyway I backed him at 10/1 this morning and the price is now 7/1, I expect it to be 2/1 by the end of the week, get on and get on LARGE while you can.

Its nothing to do with being Welsh - its because by and large people don't give a f*** about boxing.

Steered us to a WORLD CUP FINAL, in a sport that people actually care about - as opposed to winning one race.

His presence was far more important than his contribution this time though, he really didn't play that well, he just inspired the rest of the team by being on the pitch again.

Definitely not worthy of winning imo and I'm a massive rugby fan

the only thing hamilton lacks is experience. no doubt he'll go on to win a grand prix in the near future. and above all he won the hearts of the whole nation during the races. you're an idiot if you really think he won't win hands down.
