Was hoping for some half decent coverage about our FA Cup match against Newcastle tomorrow. This is quite a big game. We got about 10 seconds, then they started talking about Chocolate covered Brussel sprouts.

Before this I was looking around the other BBC Regions and the coverage for their own teams is a hundred times better. About 3 to 4 minutes at least with interviews and info about the opposition.

Don't like moaning, but why is BBC South East News coverage for Brighton completely rubbish.

It's probably because we sit on the border of the two regions. Not really an excuse I know. For a City, Brighton doesn't seem to get a lot of news coverage.

Maybe when the local Brighton TV channel starts up it will improve, a lot!

Fine from Rowridge, three bits of film CMS Sunderland, Wardy Newcastle, Lua Lua shooting and talking and Gus. Couldn't have done better myself.

This also happend with Late Night Kick Off a couple of weeks back. I ended getting something completely different. They need to sort this region thing out.

At least we are spared the stuff about Pompey and Saints. Gillingham I can understand, but I'm completely baffled by the Charlton coverage. Do they realise that Charlton is in London?

OOOP north(Horsham) we get OXFORD,f*** sake that is almost a long throw from Villa Park.

& really bizarrely MKDons are on South Today lately, but not their nearby neighbours Wycombe & Luton.

BBC regional cuts over the years have made some illogical and odd shaped local regions.

Someone on NSC last year said that the Feb 2012 digital switchover was also going to put the Brighton area into the BBC East Sussex/Kent region, so no more stories about Bournemouth/Portsmouth/Southampton. Is that really going to happen?

Radio Sussex clearly do not realise Aldershot and Woking are in Hampshire/Berkshire it does not surprise me at all.

I dont get it either, if you were a Charlton fan and lived in South East London you wouldnt even get SE today, pointless. unless you make ther arguments about ceremonial counties but even then is Charlton in Kent? i dunno.
Its not like the West Ham diaspora in Essex is it, Charlton had to ship in fans from Hastings to Worthing to fill their staidum when we were in the shit :ffsparr:

It's always been like that though. Brighton could win the Premier League and BBC South East would only give it 30 seconds coverage!

It's all bollox though isn't it? On the BBC local news after News at Ten the stories are usually about Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Dorset and just about every other county except Lothian and Borders and Sussex. (and that's watching in BN1) Who gives a crap about some house burning down in Dorset or a cat stuck up a tree in Reading? I want to hear about houses burning down in Sussex and cats stuck up trees in Sussex ffs!
