The BBC are doing a little vote on our POTS.

Don’t worry - there is little to no chance of Chelsea fans clubbing together to make Colwill the winner.

But in my opinion, the 4 options are based on our best players in the spring (with the exception of Ferguson) rather than players who have been consistent for most of the whole of the season.

No March, Mitoma, Groß, Dunk or Estupiñán to choose from. Not good. I do acknowledge that there is a lot of choice this season but Steele and Enciso have only recently come to the party with regular starts. Trossard has contributed more goals and assists than Enciso for example.

I'm fairness, 'Proud Seagulls' have got some killer merch.

Badges, pens, mugs and stickers.

For that reason I'm in.

Dunk's been consistently top or near the top of the voting on BBC Sport for Albion games.

Here are his BBC Sport ratings for Albion's 12 games in April and May that he played in.

Those in bold are those in which he was ranked in the top 3 Albion players. 9 out of 12 of them. A third of them he was MOTM.

Whilst football's always been a game of opinions, I'm very surprised to see that Dunk's been left out of the shortlist of 4 on numbers alone.

Even Southgate's finally seen what we've been seeing all season and recalled him for England.

7.86 / 2nd / Southampton (H)

5.03 / 3rd / Newcastle (A)

8.01 / 1st / Arsenal (A) (MOTM)

4.02 / 10th / Everton (H) (Highest player, Gilmour, was 5.43)

7.55 / 4th / Man United (H)

7.26 / 6th / Wolves (H)

6.78 / 3rd / Notts Forest (A)

6.71 / 3rd / Man United (Cup SF)

8.27 / 1st / Chelsea (A) (MOTM)

7.42 / 1st / Tottenham (A) (MOTM)

8.11 / 2nd / Bournemouth (A)

7.74 / 1st / Brentford (H) (MOTM)

Heart says March
Head says Dunk
Lungs say Estupinan
Ankles say Caicedo
Intestines... Gross (but that's a personal issue)

If Ali Mac's goal against Leicester had been allowed and his shot last week had gone in he would be in there and if Mitoma had played all season so would he.

Blessed to have seen this lot.

It's been such an incredible year for the team that for me the POTS seems a little . . . . Inappropriate. Sack it off and give it to the bloody lot of them (maybe not Sanchez 😂).

Stuart Matthews - a man with his finger on the Albion fanbase’s pulse.
Not voting for any of this selection, although two out of the four are reasonable candidates - along with Dunk, Estupinan, Mitoma, Veltman, Gross et al...............
Anyway, as long as the BBC are putting that festering rate the players thing (aimed at a target group of ten year olds and some of the less intelligent adolescents) on their match day page, they can do one.

Steele and Enciso have not played anywhere enough games to be considered for POTS.

Estupinan has to be on the list (as do several others). Only 3 defenders have more assists than him, the Liverpool fullbacks and Trippier, and his overall game is very good.

I swear every time they ask a Brighton fan to contribute something in the media, it’s an absolute moron who obviously barely watches the team (or barely understands football). Similar issues with whoever The Guardian use - wife of a staff member or something.

It’s obviously not Enciso for POTS is it… Christ.

I wanted to start a thread on the exact same thing. We a have a long, long list of candidates and despite loving them both, Steele and Enciso should not be on there.

Are you seriously a mod?!

Another similar thread was shut down yesterday for use of the word 'moron' and other abuse aimed at the person who contributed to the BBC article!

I make no apology for repeating myself ... Stuart does a lot for the Albion. He's part of Proud Seagulls (possibly even set it up). He sits in the North stand after driving the Seagull Travel bus that I travel to the Amex on. He's a wonderful chap ... very outgoing/gregarious.

On the bus back after the game last Sunday, he was asking the younger people on the bus who their player of the season was. It's hardly surprising that some will have suggested Enciso considering two vital 'goal of the season' stunners he's scored in recent games against Chelsea and City!

Everyone can have their view. His other suggestions kind of meet with your approval I guess? Why get so worked up about one player that means you question someone's credentials and call them a moron.

If you really are a mod then you need to moderate your post!

EDIT: Silly me ... I didn't spot the 'oo' ... but the rest of my post still stands!

Yep. Any serious poll for our POTS has to be between the following only, surely:

Dunk
Estupinan
Mac Allister
Caicedo
Gross
March
Mitoma

I don't think you'll get much disagreement there, it's trying to pick only one of those seven that's presenting the problem

It’s Solly March for me

Enciso barely featured for the first 7 months of the season, how on earth is he in there?

March, Mitoma just above the likes of Dunk, Estupinan, Caicedo… hard to pick though. Love Enciso, but he’s not in a POTS debate for me.
