Aaah they don't make telly like that anymore.

These were quality weren't they? I think my favourites as a kid growing up were the one about thieves of peregrine falcon eggs "Sky Hunter", and the Boy from Space.

A couple of clips here might jog your memory, although in the case of the Boy from Space, you'll probably have nightmares:

Oh yes, I used to love it when the teacher WHEELED in the big (probably 21") TV and popped in a slighty jerky VHS recording of Look and Read.

The one I remember is Geordie Racer. I'm pretty sure EVERYONE remembers "Magic E" too.

Remember them well.
Always thought this one looks like Toyah's love child :)

Probably a very different tangent but Badger's comment I used to love it when the teacher WHEELED in the big (probably 21") TV and popped in a slighty jerky VHS recording of Look and Read. has struck a nerve.

I've had a massive flashback to a gang of boys out 'playing'.
Each one gets killed in some easily preventable accident, because they are 'playing' on the railway line, then a building site, followed by a farm, a power substation etc.

Oh happy days.

Fairground and The Dark Tower were absolute qualla as well.

Genuinely decent education that was.

Derek Griffiths seems to have sung most of the theme tunes.

Forget the jerky VHS. What about the BBC Schools clock? Sitting through that was essential as my school had yet to invest in such costly technology as a video recorder.
