My office colleagues in Philli are looking forward to this.....they HATE Yankees with a passion and what I didnt realise that there is serious trouble at these games.....no segregation and pissed up fans

Yeah – I’d heard that. Normally the extent of violence between American sports fans consists of them shouting “You suck!” “No you suck!” at each other.

Although I seem to remember about a year ago a Yankees fan was charged with second-degree murder after allegedly ramming her car into a group of Red Sox fans and killing one.

The Yankees and the Phillies it is then. Game was delayed from Saturday night due to the weather and the Yankees beat the Angels 5-2 tonight, going thru’ 4-2 overall.

First game of the World Series tonight. Yankees have the home advantage – I reckon it will go the full seven games.

6-1
Not a Phillies fan, but anyone beating the Yankees works for me.

A question for the girls on here. How far would go to get tickets to see the Albion in the FA Cup Final?

By MARYCLAIRE DALE, Associated Press Writer

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A Philadelphia woman charged with offering sex for World Series tickets says she's embarrassed about her arrest, but did nothing wrong and is still hopeful of attending a game.

"I didn't do anything wrong, so I'm not embarrassed about my actions. I'm embarrassed about how I was arrested," Susan Finkelstein told The Associated Press in a phone interview on Wednesday, a day after meeting at a suburban bar with an undercover police officer responding to an ad on Craigslist.

Finkelstein's lawyer said his client was merely "a nice lady overcome with Phillies fever."
She might have dropped double entendres in her Craigslist ad but never explicitly offered sex, her lawyer William J.Brennan said.

The 43-year-old Finkelstein wanted to take her husband toa game between her beloved Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Yankees. The self-described «buxom blonde» said she was simply trying to score tickets online, as she had in the past.

Over a few beers at a suburban bar, she told a police officer she needed two tickets, one for herself and one for her husband. No price had been discussed, and Finkelstein
and her lawyer stopped short of recounting specifics of what was said before several officers sitting at a nearby table came to arrest her.

Brennan hopes to get the misdemeanor charge of promoting prostitution dismissed.

Finkelstein told WPVI-TV she was looking to get a deal on tickets.
"I was hoping to maybe meet someone, and talk, and bat my eyelashes and maybe get some tickets," she said.

Finkelstein faces a preliminary hearing on Dec. 3. On the bright side, she's been offered a pair of tickets to a weekend game in Philadelphia, courtesy of a radio station and car dealer.

Why is it called the world series??? No other country is invited to play!!!!!

Another useless Americanism

Canada do compete, Blue Jays won in 1992 – although agree this is not exactly the basis of a “World” series

Yankees 3-1 up now in the Series. I’m kinda neutral on this, more into the ice hockey, but have a passing interest in the Yankees as I live in New York. I'd go for the Yankees now – just because the Phillies fans (2 in the office) will be insufferable if they win two on the trot.

So the Yankees won the World Series - no big surprise really. They didn’t win it so much as buy it - having spent in excess of 300 million dollars on the team Hal Steinbrenner would have been a bit pissed off if they hadn’t won. They’re like Millwall - nobody loves them but they don’t care.
