Whats the latest news? Havent heard anything on here about him for a couple of days. Do we assume that the nearer it gets to the expiration of his contract, the more likely it is that he is going to leave?

I must admit to being wrong about Iwelumo. I thought about the only thing he ever did for us was fall over in the penalty area at the Play-off final. I can't BELIEVE he's ended up at Charlton.

I also thought Darius Henderson was a bit of a donkey when he was on loan with us - and look at him. All I want is for Tony Rougier to end up at somewhere like West Brom and I'll have a full set.

I posted before that I don't think money is the issue but length of contract. He left Gillingham because we offered him a year as opposed to their end of the season.
DK has already said he is being offered the nearest the top range of money for the players here.

I certainly don't want Bas to go. He was the one thing that kept me going to matches a year ago when we were dire and fighting relegation.
He works well with Forster and confuses the defence (and himself at times)

I would be upset if bas left not so much because of his character but because he is a unique addition to our squad namely because he is a big tough centre forward who does cause problems in the box and by doing so creates chances for Forster, Hammond etc. If he goes I think he will need to be replaced as I dont think Revell offers the same thing.

If he goes, good luck to him. But if he does, then it'll be a prime case of footballers proving they've no loyalty to the fans or clubs that have supported them in poorer times; which is exactly what Bas was having when he came to the Albion. If he's destined for better offers, then other clubs will come in regardless of whether he's contracted to us. And in the meantime, he could just put pen to paper at a club where he's well liked and playing well. Which is almost a first compared to his previous club records.

Tosh. Fans are only ever loyal to the club - they would (and do) turn on any player if it suits them. Clubs have never been loyal - if a better option comes along they take it.

The idea that at any time in the middle/recent past that there was once a golden era where every one was loyal and all supported each other which is now only upheld by the fans is complete bunkum. When will people stop trotting out this tired old cliche?

Football is his job - it's a short career - he puts his career and his family first - as he should.

I personally think he's an asset for the squad and a character. But if he goes I won't be upset by - or at - him.
