I have been in The Savannah, was pleasently suprised, late night drink, couple of the young ladies behind the bar are very pleasant to the eye, The bar is also on Facebook, I wish I lived in Haywards Heath, id be in there every night, Oh and one of the the owners is gorgeous.
LONG LIVE THE SAVANNAH AND ALL WHO DRINK IN HER !!!!!!!:yahoo::falmer::ascarf::albion2::albion2::albion2:

Seriously, what's your connection to Savannah? Every time it's mentioned on here you start creaming yourself about how wonderful it is when the reality is that it's no better that any of the other shitholes on The Broadway. Worse, in fact, as for some unfathomable reason they sell Kentish beer.

Are there two towns called Haywards Heath by any chance? I'm only aware of the one that is a shithole in Mid Sussex. Where is this hotbed of bars and cafes of which you speak?

Parallel Universe perhaps?

I think the beer sold in Savannahs is shite but I heard that one of the owners, theres about 6 people who own it, is converting a shop in Cuckfield, of all places into a similar type bar.

My son , who drinks in Savannahs told me it is the chap who owns the Cottage bakery in Burgess Hill and the small bakers in Cuckgfield who is converting the adjacent shop in Cuckfield.

I will not go in to any bar like those simply because I do not like ice cold beer, I am a traditionalist and like it served at 54F, neither warm nor ice cold. I am one of the few that if I have to have a bottled lager like Becks I want it staright from the cellar not out of the fridge, nor off of the shelf.

No if it is a strange pub I make out I am a connessiour (sp) of beer and ask for a sample and they usually put some in a small spirit size slim jim to taste.

The general rule is that if it comes out under pressure like John Smith Smooth etc it will be Ice Cold if it comes out through an engine it will be cellar temperature and if the publican is anything like that will be at 54F.

This is apersonal choice Ido not like ice cold beer. I was once told by a then Guinness, now Diageo, an American company, that they brought out ice cold Guinness because the sales where dropping due to the fact that youn g people like Ice Cold beer and had they not as tghe traditional guinnes drinkers died off they would not have been replaced. It sound like perfectly good marketing to me but I will not drink Draught Guinness but love bottled Guinness, which is very rare in pubs nowadays.

I generally steer clear of strange pubs. But next time I'm in one, I'll ask for a "sample" of their finest Beater.

Bottled Guinness is rather nice, I haven't seen anywhere selling it for a while though. Frankly, I don't much care for draught Guinness myself but in the absence of anywhere in Haywards Heath selling a decent pint of ale, it is about the only thing I can stomach.

Diageo gave out little plastic thermometers a couple of years ago to check the temperature of Guinness with. I never used mine in the boozer for fear of looking like a bit of a prick.

You'd have looked like an inspector. You might have got a free burger.

Or something.

The Snowdrop sells Badger, which is uually quite good and of course if you under age you can go into the Heath they probably sell HARVEYS with the smarties for the kids.

I'm far too lazy to walk to The Snowdrop though. Whilst The Heath does indeed sell Mr. & Mrs. Harveys finest bitter, a drinkable pint of it in there is rare as hens teeth and it means associating with some rather unsavoury types.

I will take your word for it as I havent been in there for a long time. I am told that the Duck has now taken on most of the customers that used to drink in The Sussex and The Eagle and as such leaves a lot to be desired so I tend to stick to the United Services Club who sell Courage Best which is usually quaffable and they usually have a 'guest' beer.

Took my little lad to the pub at Beechurst gardens a couple of weeks back, ideal as they have the play area, however I noticed that it is closing soon to be refurbished and reopened as a Harvester.

I used to drink in The Duck a lot a few years back. They did absorb a lot of The Sussex crowd for a time just after it closed, though a fair few of them seem to be down in The Heath these days. I've never seen anyone in there that I've recognised from The Eagle, though whether that's changed recently with The Eagle being done up I don't know as The Duck has been pretty poor for a while now. Haven't been to the Club in a long time.
