It's just the timing of it, and when I plan to be in Australia. I've heard good things about Perth, and would like to do it, but logistics may get in the way. Getting to Melbourne from Perth might be the sticking point. Presumably not cheap due to distances involved (I'll be on a backpacker's budget )?

You might get a flight from sydney or melbourne to perth for about $350 one way.. trains are way more expensive..

Where does one find tickets for Australia vs England? I can only find sold out information for England vs Australia.
We may well be in Australia December/January, and I completely ruddy forgot about the return Ashes.
