A quiet word with the owner, asking him to keep his dog in at night, would be my way of dealing with it.

My dog does two circuits of the garden every night after I turn the tv off to go to bed barking her head off. It's her job.

Unless we get a cat in the garden during the night she is pretty good with the noise. She has her own dog flap to do her patrols though. We had one phone call from the council about her when she spent all night barking after a hedgehog came in and wouldn,t leave till dawn but a bit of work to the fencing sorted that out. I often get roaring drunk and sing Albion related songs in my back garden during the early hours and I find that that annoys the bitch of a neighbour I have much more than the dog.

Personally I would record the barking dog and then replay it ALL night to set the score even. Right outside the owners house.

A quiet word might do the trick. A neighbour of mine had her dogs in the garden one night and they were volleying off like crazy, and it turned out she'd taken her meds and fallen asleep on the sofa, and was blissfully unaware of the noise disturbance. Perhaps it's a similar case here?

Any way you can turn it into a helicopter?

They might have already heard the barking....... I mean if it is their dog and lives in their house.... like.

Our very placid lab used to do this religiously. all day not a murmur , but last thing at night , probably foxes, or cats nearby work bark, only time he did it, but we got letters from council saying neighbours had made complaints and would follow up with visit and or removal of said animal if it continued so had to teach him to stop, a good dog can be trained.
