For it's 50th birthday, one of the most famous stadiums in the world is getting a facelift, to include a completely new look exterior (similar kind of thing to the Allianz Arena in Germany, from what I can make out), 10,000 more seats and a roof right the way around it, as well as modernization of a lot of interior features, all designed by Norman Foster at a cost of about 250 million euros.

Personally, from the way it's shown in above image, I think the proposed new facade looks bloody awful.

Any other opinions?

Shame they are going to cover the stadium.

Isn't most of it uncovered at the moment? It certainly was when I visited in 2001.

I do quite like the design of that.

At the moment, it looks like this:

As I understand it, the extra seats will go on and around the section where the current roof is, thus levelling the top out at the same height right the way around.

Ah, so it hasn't changed. I remember one of the girls on our hockey tour (being rather anti-football) mumbling and groaning all the way there.

She was standing literally underneath the part with the cover and said "So where is this bloody stadium then!?" :dunce:

looked at these earlier, quite impressed. Liking the roof around it because it does lack atmosphere and that will change things

Way out west
That would look stunning if the glass bit was lit up at night (like Munich)...imagine a stadium at falmer looking like that, with a blue cross across it.

I hope they change the roof at the Nou Camp so that the people in the back row under the roof can actually SEE most of the pitch:lol:
