Barber cools optimism on loan striker

Thunder Bolt

Silly old bat
I'm with you. Anyone who says "They're talking of investing 55 million in the Amex complex so why can't they afford a decent loan striker?" doesn't understand the situation and won't understand any explanation.

Having said that I share the frustrations. But the bottom line is we've still got to pay all the players who are injured (as I bet they're not on zero hours contracts) and that severely limits the amount we've got left to splurge on temporary replacements.

And yes, communications is definitely not the club's strong suit.

As I understand it, injured players are covered by insurance.

Good grief! We have more than twice as many points as the team in 22nd place and you're already talking about 3rd division football.

We had 55% of the posesion against forest and lost 3-1 that says it all,we are relying on a striker that is out of his depth and that is not his fault but the clubs for not spending on the squad.BHA sre in great danger of following Coventry

This line if it will be OK when we don't have injuries - not sure I agree. We have had Leo until Reading, only really Bridcutt is a big loss and Ince did that job very well indeed. And Orlandi, who is good but probably doesn't change the team from non-goal scoring to scoring. Then we have long term CMS - frankly didn't set the world alight with goals despite all his efforts last year, and Hoskins who didn't really feature. In reality the injury list assumes CMS and/or Hoskins does something when fit that they didn't do last year - is that going to happe ? If not we have a problem!

Anyone else sick of hearing how much possession we have etc etc etc....We can have 100% possession and it ain't worth a ****, if you can't stick the ball in the onion bag. No new striker, no play offs this season and at least 5,000 less season tickets sold next. That is the stark reality.

You may think so, but I think he is spot on about season ticket sales, if the season continues this way. You only have to look around the Amex and areas of empty seats are growing now. These are people who have paid for their tickets and are not turning up, will they buy them again next season, I think not.

Which bit??? If we go into the next 8 games with just Barnes, we will be playing catch up for the rest of the season and we will not make the play offs without a decent second striker, Ulloa can't carry the whole goalscoring burden on his shoulders. And if we finish mid-lower table, at least 5,000 won't renew next season and pick and choose their games....I didn't say if we didn't get a striker we could be in a relegation scrap, which is what I really fear.....So which bit is blown out of proportion???

And did I hear someone say Bridcutt could be out for another two months??? mmmmm that's interesting, strange injury he has got. I don't think we will ever see him in the stripes again, unless they are red and white ones.

Why don't people get it that we are skint and can't afford any decent players at the moment...wait till every other side in the division is found out to be cheating, we get all the fines and become the only team that can sign players...we will be the next BRAZIL I Tell you.

We just have to hang on and try and not get relegated this year and we are on the gravy train!!!

When you've got a tenner in your pocket, don't go and do a weekly shop in Tesco.

I have no idea what you mean by that. Is the weekly shopping the hotel because it will sustain us and the £10 meant to reflect us not having enough money to cover it, or is it the loan signing because it won't last forever and the £10 representative of money that could be prioritised elsewhere? Is the £10 meant to represent all we've got, or is it not spent on shopping because we need it to pay for the gas or electric so we don't freeze to death? Why aren't we spending the money on the weekly shopping, isn't that a good investment. Sure it won't be a big shop, but with what we've got in the store cupboards and some smart buys we could do a shop that covers us for the next week.

Should we do the weekly shop in aldi's or lidl's?

I really don't know how you meant that metaphor.

As I understand it, injured players are covered by insurance.

Players with career ending injuries are certainly covered by insurance but I'd be surprised if short term injuries would be covered. Certainly not less than 3 months or more likely 6 months, the premiums would be astronomical. So maybe Hoskins and possibly CMS, although payouts would almost certainly depend on regular first team performances so Hoskins probably wouldn't qualify.

I can't see Ulloa being covered by insurance, it's one of those things that happens to most players at some time.
