Seems impossible to score of slow bowlers. Might have a bit of cash on Swann for a 5fer.

Trott gone. I stand by my criticism of him; his volume of runs is great, but if he could do it a bit faster I think he'd be a top, top player. He reminds me of Strauss when he first came into the one day side (at number 4); he scores the vast majority of his runs in 1s and 2s regardless of the pitch/conditions. If England had a load of big shot players around him then I think he would be completely beyond reproach; but they don't. England have been at least 30 runs short of where they should be in every game so far, and he's got to take his share of responsibility for that.

what ever we get wont enough were going to lose but i hope im wrong

England struggling to get the ball off the square. I wouldn't write us off just yet.

And we defended a sub 200 score against South Africa the other day. And Bangladesh batted horibly the other day.

I do think we are going to need to ball to move around in the air a bit though.

Trott has top scored in this innings. Should he take resonsibility for us being 30 short in this game?

No, he shouldn't. Obviously, if we're failing to bat through our overs there are more fundamental problems. But we lost to Ireland and made the Netherlands chase look more difficult than it should have been in part because on both occasions we didn't score as quickly as we should have done on featherbed pitches.

Netherlands - Trott 62 from 65, scored more runs quicker than Pietersen and Bell
Ireland - 92 from 92 scored more runs quicker than Strauss and Bell and over 30 more runs than Pietersen at a slightly slower rate.

But whatever.

I really think out bowlers and captain should take almost all the blame in the Ireland and Netherlands matches, you should'n't be conceding that many runs. Our batting performances are in keeping with rest of the big teams against the Associates it's the the Associates totals against us that are telling

According to the other thread, the highest ODI score on this pitch was 202 so we might not have done that bad

Think i just saw (Sky player at work is a wonderful thing) that the highest chase on this pitch is 222. The pitch is spinning and there is variable.

We are still in this game make no mistake. Bangladesh don't have much batting and as long as there is something there for the quickies it shouldn't be a nervous ending.

In regards to Trott, I find him the most underated batsman around. Just because he doesn't score with 'elan' or shout his mouth off people write him off as a Boycott forward defensive merchant. He isn't. He reliably scores runs (today being a perfect example) and is statistically up there with Viv Richards in one dayers so far.

Give me Trotts sensible run a ball scoring over Pietersons 'look at me, I've just reversed sweeped it straight to the Wicket keeper' any day of the week

I can see us losing here. Our bowling attack was mediocre WITH Broad. Without him it's poor. Graeme Swann is key but we're a spinner light. In this match on this pitch Yardy makes sense.

As for criticism of Trott, it's ridiculous. At a push you can argue he scored too slowly in this particular match, but then again it's a tough pitch to score fast on for anyone. The bottom line is you need to post a total and you can't do that if other batsmen are posting run-a-ball 15s/20s, otherwise we'll be all out for 200 off 200 balls in the 34th over.

Swann on. Bangladesh 2/5, England 2/1. Good work seamers, NOT....

Consistent leg side lines. Really bad. Not picking Yardy is going to bite us on the arse.
