England batting

14/0 - 4.1 overs

Struass 7 Prior 6

Collingwood in for Yardy
Shahzad in for Broad
Morgan in for Pietersen

Bangladesh just wasted a referral on a ball that pitched a foot outside leg.

I'll echo the point that Cricinfo made, what is the point of James Tredwell?

Did you see the rumours that they were going to bring in Rashid for Broad?

I think they realised that Tredwell wasn't as good as they thought during the Aus ODIs, but by that point had already announced the squad. Rashid has to be the future, surely? I suspect they'll bring him into the squad for Yardy after this tournament (although they aren't likely to play two spinners away from the subcontinent, which will work against him).

put your money on B/desh they will win this game, they have 4 spinners in there team and we have 1 + trott, not sure who picks the england team, but this pitch will turn and get slower as the game goes on yet we pick a team of quickies........

Just looked - run rate of 3 at 2 wickets down. Doesn't look good - back to work.

Hopefully the ball starts reversing early under the lights or we're f***ed.

If Morgan gets going you never know what can happen.

Collingwood could be effective on this pitch and I should think Bopara will get a few overs.

Morgan is looking assured, run rate getting better so all not lost....hope that does not put the kiss of depth on this partnership!!

I don't know if anyone on hear listens to the cricinfo podcasts, but they have been continuing to debate Trott's usefulness when batting first. The argument goes that he is very much one-paced, and struggles to accelerate his scoring without scoreboard pressure. As such he is great in a chase (when the required run rate dictates the rate at which he must score) but can be a drain when setting a target. 26 off 50 isn't doing much to negate the argument either...

Hmmm, third ever quickest to 1000 one day runs. People should play around Trott, looking at the side he's exactly he type of player I want. Scores hundreds. Hundreds win games. If Pietersen and Prior and other openers are only going to score quick runs and get out you need someone who just stays in.

100% this. Trott's scoring rate is only an issue if the others fail in their specific roles

I don't understand this criticism of Trott, England have lacked someone like him for as long as I can remember.

His strike in this world cup and in ODI generally 78, that's perfectly good if you're making big innings consistently
