They were, although we matched them pretty well for the 1st 20 mins, they ran out easy winners.

If you take into account inflation, Ronaldo's fee isn't far off bales.
Plus I think ronaldo earns more p/w than Bale.

Just gotta look at the world player of the year candidates to see bale isn't at the same level.

Edit - inflation has averaged at about 2 percent over the last 4 years. Cristiano cost £80 mil and bale cost £85.3 mil.
I haven't got my calculator to hand and I'm tired so if someone wants to do
80 x (1.02 x 10) to the player of 4 it would be lovely.
