With Dunk, Calderon and Taricco all suspended, who will make up our back four on Saturday?

I guess El Abd is a straight swap for Dunk and Vincelot will cover for Calderon with Painter coming back into the side but where does that leave us for cover?

Oh, nevermind then.

On radio commentary last night they said one of Dunk or Greer would be suspended (can't remember which now). Wont Tarrico be serving the 3rd match of his ban?

Greer is one yellow away from a ban, Taricco has served his now. Dunk needs two more yellows for a further ban for reaching ten.

It might be only one more for Dunk, can't remember if he's on 8 or 9 yellows after last night.

It was a stupid yellow he got last night too, unnecessary, particularly for someone who's already racked up a few.

No problem, the radio commentary made the situation sound worse then it is, thanks for clearing it up!

I have dunk on 7 yellows (apparently he didn't get one v southampton).

Hope he doesn't put Jara at back .. would love to see him further up ... got a feeling he could be special

I think in Calderon's absence Reyes is the best bet at right back. Agree that him and Bridcutt in the middle of the park could be awesome though

What's the highest number of yellow cards and Brighton player has managed in a season? Dunk must be on for challenging it

Dunk is on 8 yellows (9 if he picked one up against Southampton.) He's been booked against Doncaster, Gillingham, Portsmouth, Leciester, Palace, Millwall, West Ham and Derby. The BBC and Soccerbase both show him as booked agaisnt Southampton but the report on our website doesn't list him as being shown a yellow. His player profile does show him having 8 in the league and one in the cup which would mean a yellow against Southampton.

I was missing millwall. Thanks.

I thought Painter was out for three/four weeks with hamstring

Gus now has a dilemma, we have gone from a shoe string defence to having quality players vying for positions all across the back 4 . Not a bad headache to have.
I hope El Abd keeps that handle bar 'tache, looks hard as nails!

To clarify

Available defenders/defensive cover:
Vincelot
Dunk
El Abd
Greer
Tanno
Jara Reyes(hopefully)

Out
Elphick (injured)
Painter (injured)
Cook (on loan)
Calderon (suspended)

Is that right?

The good news from last night is that El Abd looked good when he came on, especially considering the length of his lay off. Bombing on at every opportunity and getting those trade mark crunching tackles in as ever too.

Vincelot also played very well again.

Looking at that available list...I see no concerns at all. Obviously Poyet doesn't either as Cook has had his Bournemouth loan extended too. This is good news for Cook and the team as it means we have quality cover keeping match fit and gaining experience too.
