I saw it last night. Not as good as I hoped but worth seeing. The main problem with it is it tries to fit so much in, there's barely time to stop and reflect.

I can't get my head around this one, I would have thought it had a limited audience appeal?

Well its is a German film so would obviously appeal over there. You could of said the same thing about the "Lives of Others" I think it would appeal to a lot of people from my generation who remember them.

Sad thing is it is not on general release around the country bugger

Why are so many people waiting for it to come out on DVD?

No trendy lefty screen thingy here. Thats Coventry for you

??? - isn't Dave Nellist from around your way?

Great film but it does baffle me, the whole leftist chic thing. Russell Brand has Stalin on his wall, students wear Guevera t-shirts, Chairman Mao is now a pop-art icon. How very ironic. Between the 2 of them Stalin and Mao killed over 65 million people but because they're not right wing it's okay.

Baader and Meinhof no doubt will be regarded as a cosy revolutionary force and not the cold heartless terrorists that they were. We've got the film Hunger, which is, when you boil it down just about some dirty murdering nob who refuses to eat and smears his shit on the wall.

Strange that the right isn't afforded the same artistic licence. Anyone fancy investing in my General Pinochet doll business idea? I've got some wicked Franco posters if anyone's interested.

As I rarely go to the cinema

I can understand you not wanting to go to one of the multiplexs but if you live in Brighton the Duke of Yorks is a great experience. The home made cake is a treat as well.

I sometimes take the frau for a Thai in that pub over the road before hand......which makes for a nice date.

Yes Dave Nellist is a councillor in Coventry but I don't think he runs his own cinema yet. I could always pop round to watch the dvd at his place:lol:

I agree with what you say 100%. I just wondered how the Baader Meinhoff would be portrayed

Their lawyer Horst Mahler went over to the right wing:clap2:

Generally the left do things for the greater good....the right for selfish reasons. There is your answer.

To be honest I agree with your general point, but I don't think The Baader-Meinhof Complex really glamourises the RAF very much; to me they came out of it looking like screaming idealists who lost touch of reality and did more harm than good. There's obviously some personalities there which will make them more sympathetic characters, but I wouldn't side with them as a result of the film!

Hunger on the other hand, does seem to sympathise solely with the prisoners, who had committed serious crimes, which left a bitter taste in my mouth. The difference between Hunger and Baader-Meinhof is that the former is fantastically made, disturbing and a truely unique film, the latter is rather average.
