Forensics officers have seized the car that conveyed the Southport stabbing suspect to the scene of the crime.

The 17-year-old took a taxi from the village of Banks, which is around five miles away, directly to Hart Street. He was then involved in a brief altercation with the driver and two bystanders after he refused to pay the fare.

The driver’s car has now been seized by Merseyside police for forensic examination, other taxi drivers working in Southport said. The suspect remains in custody while investigations are ongoing.

I normally steer clear of politics, and real life events on these pages... but today I feel compelled to write something down... bereft as I've found myself of any joy in our current reality.

I've found myself, as a father of two, rather overwhelmed by this latest societal horror... far from being angry, I'm incredibly saddened the someone is capable of doing something so utterly evil... much like we saw with the Manchester post gig bombing... My heart is with the families, so many lives wrecked forever... in what was, I'm sure, a moment of joy turned into a sickening massacre of innocent lives.

Anger for me is futile, I'd prefer to spend my energies on trying to comprehend why things like this happen and how anyone can believe in a God of any sort in a world so chock full of horror.

I foresee a lawless time to come, where we see societal collapse en masse and this kind of thing becomes the tribal norm... we're at a tipping point and I fear where the compounding of too many events like this leading to dark, dark times.

Right now, I think it's important not to call for immediate retribution, making a pile of pathetic martyrs and direct everything into helping and trying to maintain a shred of decency in our fragile society.

I hope the victims rest in peace... I hope the families can find a reason to carry on living... My heart goes out to everyone involved.

I can't imagine what the poor families are going through. I always thought I could get through any bad thing happening to me, except anything happening to my daughter. she is 22 now and that still rings true today as the day she was born.

Hopefully someone will be able to advise me on my point, the culprit will eventually be charged with murder, but ATM why are the MSM as they always do refer to the victims being killed, is this down to legal procedures ?

Mine has just turned 13, and she’s a massive Swifty (although I’ve made sure she’s aware of Deep Purple obviously) this story, on the back of the recent crossbow horror etc. is another example of how repulsive we can be…

Like I say, what can you do expect try to comprehend what those families are going through and offer the most sincere of condolences.

They are Bebe King, six; Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven; and Alice Dasilva Aguiar, nine.Their families, who are being supported by specialist officers, have asked that their privacy is respected at this time, the statement adds.

Not going to lie dropping my 4 year old to holiday club this morning was tough. Lots of anxious faces in parents and lots of reassurances from staff.

Cannot even begin to think what these poor families are going through.....

Until now, I hadn't seen more than just the headline on this.

I kind of wish I hadn't read the reports now - I have a dance-mad 3yr old daughter and have tears streaming down my face.

She's out visiting her great grandparents today, but will be getting the biggest hug when she's home.

To even start to imagine what the families are going through...

I have a 4 year old little girl and have to say I gave her an extra special cuddle when I got home last night.

I am struggling to think of much else today. The world is such a worse place than it used to be where things like this can happen to small children. I'm struggling to think of anything on this level in this country in my lifetime. Previous acts may have targeted innocent people but not specifically young children. Just appalling.

I do fear for the life that she will be living.

All of us approach and deal with this in slightly different ways. Even naming the crime as murder may provide a little satisfaction for anyone with retributive thoughts I suppose.

Absolute nightmare for the poor families - nothing but sympathy for them, not that that will help them, sadly.

I remember one of my daughters had just started school the day that Dunblane happened. I had finished work in Bristol and was driving home to Gloucester as the news came through on the radio. For some reason the man on the BBC newsdesk wasn't saying the word 'Dunblane', or for that matter, 'Scotland' - just that this wasn't in a big inner city, but in a quiet part of Britain where this sort of thing just wasn't expected, so I was going up the wall in case it was Gloucester. I think I was trying to find another station that was giving more specific information on the location - but what I do remember was roaring round the curve from the M4 to the M5 at fully 85mph, while fully concentrating on frantically fiddling with the radio!
Of course, I was eventually able to breathe easily, thank goodness - but it gave me a taste of that feeling in the stomach that these poor parents will have suffered.

From the footage I have just seen it appeared to be locals plus one of the mums shouting at the Prime Minister that her daughter had been stabbed 7 times. Not sure that indicates that they are from the "right".
