Away Attendance Speculation

This is a point I was thinking, not a criticism just mindless speculation.

For many years Brighton have had an excellent away following. This was formed of two main groups; those who went to away games rather than Withdean and the die-hard supporters.

I speculate that we might see a decrease in average away attendance because those who were away fans are now home fans (can they afford money and time wise ?) and completely new fans are unliukely to be compelled to step up from ocassionally going to Withdean or cup games to be a STH and away fan...

I guess it depends on how well we're doing. Obviously the famous clubs in the division will arouse interest.

Thoughts.

you may be right. although away fans of the past will still love away days! so dont worry just yet. should have a good crowd at pompey - lets take each game as it comes.

i think the local games will be the ones the newer fans will hit, (i include myself in that bracket). However i am interested in doing one or two of the further away games, and would like to know how i can get to these games on the brighton buses.

i would like to go to a barnsley / hull or a boro game, as i want to have the experience of having an away day. So you hardcore away fans how do i go about it?

If you are going to do an away game up north then it has to be Leeds. Good day out.

Train can be quite fun. fans often post up which trains they're getting. Done that a few times. Don't like supporters coaches to be honest.

Algie, how do i go about getting on the away day buses?

The last time i caught a coach was back in 85 and said i would never do it again. Keep your eye out on nsc as people offer lifts in there cars. Much better then going by coach.

I'm moving up to York in October so i'll be at all of the freezing cold northern away games I can get to. Hoping to do boro, hull, doncaster, Leeds and hopefully a few more possibly as far as the midlands.

Think any natural reduction in away following (due to shift in interest towards being at Falmer) will be balanced by Championship football and excellent fixture list this season - I expect at the end of the season our average away following will be 2000 - similar to last season when we were in title winning form.
