The key word is 'paid'...overwhelming emphasis on 'employees' & therefore PAYE trackable, not owners/partners/etc that are generally higher so pretty meaningless esp when you don't see 10,000s merchant bankers/city types listed and 12 & 13 duplicated

thats the problem with averages, you dont know what they include. "accountant" for example will include everyone from junior to partners, Finsbury to Forfar, part time and full time, based on their reported earnings. "Company secretaries" earn only £6620? im sure they do as they are either partners of the company owner (for all those shell companies for contractors) or have another job such as Accountant, Director or MP. alot of those in the bottom 50-100 will be part time, those School crossing attendants are only working 2-3 hours a day for 37 weeks.

FUnny how near the top things for the most part remain the same or in creased, where as thje close to the bottom you get the more things decrase from last year....guess someone has to pay for the tops increase!

or simple supply and demand at work. not many qualified for the jobs of Police Officers (inspector or above) or Corporate managers etc relative to Environmental Health Officers, Sales reps, Routine laboratory testers or Typists etc. actually when you look though, other than a few stand out jobs, its pretty random what jobs have increased (alot have) decreased

Exactly! Its as the thread suggests all about averages. My daughter works in a beauticians every Thursday and Saturday as part of her training. She does 9- 6 each day and gets £20 cash for the day. Well below the min wage. She also works behind the bar at Hove Rugby club and gets £35 for a five hour shift. Well above!

"125 IT operations technicians 28,691 -1.9"

Either they've defined operations very poorly to include phone support or some people have been telling massive porkies.

So you have proved my point. The AVERAGE salary for a vet will be way above £33k. It doesnt say average starting salary!

Your daughter and friends will be way, way above that when they hit the mid point of their career. Very, very few poor vets (unless no good or completely uncommercial).

£50k student loan will be a drop in the ocean, and extremely good value for money, once she hits senior partner!!

I've never really understood why train drivers get paid so well. Accepted you may get the occasional 'jumper' but I would guess that this does not happen to most drivers in their whole career. Many other workers face more stress on a daily basis.

Yesterday on LBC a London tube driver called up to angrily point out their job, in terms of expertise, is far more akin to that of a commercial airline pilot, than a bus driver owing to the number of passengers they carry! That was his attempt at justifying his nearly £50k salary and perks! Greedy FOOL!!!
