Avatars and smilies and stuff

As part of the vBulletin upgrade the other night we seem to have lost some graphics files.

The NSC database is backed up before an upgrade in case any issue is encountered and the upgrade needs to be rolled back. We don't back up other non-database files and this is where it looks we might have lost some images.

I will sort out the smilies over the weekend but if you are really missing your avatar, I would suggest you to to your settings and upload it again (or find another one).

All of that said, some avatars seem to be magically re-appearing - I've no idea why that would happen, but I'll check it out.

i've seen two cases where people have posted saying "my avatar has gone" and then posting a minute later saying "oh, it's back now".

Not sure about the other one, but Kazenga's was an animation of sorts, does that have anything to do with it?

I don't really know an awful lot about these things, just guessing like.

I kind of like the idea of a break from my avatar for a few days ( stupid blue blinking ball, winds me up sometimes). But I'm gonna miss the little chap soon so will reinstate him.
