No!!! Gutted!I agree, that would have been my recommendation too; but, sadly, it's been closed since the end of last year

Yeah, food's decent there, and good portion size, but agree re the prices. You want expensive Italian then go to La Tana in Patcham - prices have rocketed.
Ah, Billy. I actually like Billy - helps he always gives us free after dinner drinks ! He can indeed talk though. You're correct that he used to work for Moji at Galileo's. I won't repeat what I've been told about Galileo's but it's fair to say we did notice the quality of the food gradually drop so we started using Billy's. Moji is also selling his cafe next door due to financial strains. Can't say I've really noticed Billy's to be any more expensive but the food is far better. Not a big fan of Italian cuisine. All the restaurants have the same things on the menu without any variation or razzle-dazzle.
Although, I used to go regularly to one in Molesey. Purely for the people that run it. All Italian. All good people.
If I walked past of a morning they would usher me in for a gratis coffee and chat before opening. And they treated my elderly Stepfather and his mate like kings.
Crikey. That was ten years ago now. Never been back.
I lived there for two years and I found there to be two good things about Molesey;
Cricket by the Thames
and that restaurant.
The rest of it is a God forsaken wasteland with shit pubs, shit shops, women who would look the same either way up, and a general atmosphere of a GP’s waiting room on a wet Wednesday afternoon in February.
Quite nice up around Hampton Court though.
Anyway, Italian food? Yes, no thanks.

For those heading Burgess Hill way (not that I can see many doing this, but still!) there's a nice Italian restaurant there - Buon Appetito. Have been there a few times as have family in the area.
Why does it exist?Horrible round there I agree, apart from Hampton Court. A boring dead flat wasteland of 1930's semis, no views. I always think of it as a Chelsea Chavs area. When arrests have been over the years, Molesey is often some of the scummers addresses.
Why does it exist?
Awful place .
Being nosey, what's the occasion?I’m struggling to find one team, need a recommendation, no chains, not Donatello etc and definitely not the endless supply of Persian run attempts, a proper Italian in the B & H area, any ideas or suggestions?
Not an occasion, after watching a foody type programme about an authentic Spaghetti Vongole recipe, my wife announces it’s her favourite dish to which I suggested I’d cook it for her which was met with a ‘ no thanks’ take me to a decent Italian restaurant and let an Italian make it for herBeing nosey, what's the occasion?
That’s a good point, it’s just there appears to be very few Italian Restaurants in Brighton owned and run by Local to Italia folksIt does raise a question about what authentic means. There was a chef (maybe a food critic) who said something like if you ask 10 locals for an authentic recipe you will get 10 different recipes.

True. The chef at Vine Street Cin Cin when I was a regular was Irish! That said, he was excellent and I would often talk to him for tips and inspiration...he certainly knew his way around Italian ingredients and flavours. He could also make pasta about 20 times quicker than me and sometimes whilst talking to me....I need 100% concentration. That’s a good point, it’s just there appears to be very few Italian Restaurants in Brighton owned and run by Local to Italia folks
All sorts really, osso bucco the other day, havent made pasta for a while. Often make a bolgnese or a ragu, made one with veal mince and red wine last week. Always have fresh pesto to hand, and get through a lot of parmigiano and tomatoesI like cooking Italian as well, what sort of stuff do you make? I have a pasta machine and dabble with this from time to time; it’s good fun.

Most honest Italian food is relatively simple, the key is good ingredients. .
or ping me a message on here as they are my neighbours... Known Nino and his family for about 10 years now and tend to know when they're heading back home for the summer!Another suggestion for Pronto In Tivola, simple but well done Italian food and Italian owned. Also very cheap.
Check that is it open as it can be shut for a few weeks at a time if the owners go on holiday.
