Looks can be deceiving.

If ****wits would stop lighting fires the visuals wouldn't be anything near as bad.

Theres been some arson, but it wasn't arsonists who started most of the current fires as far as I'm aware. They've mostly been due to lightning strikes and maybe a bit of thoughtless dickheads throwing glass bottles away in the bush.

One of the major fires was started when a backburn to fight an existing fire got out of control.

I certainly wouldn't support turning it into a race/nation issue. There is no benefit in deciding who is more deserving of our resources based on....... well what ever you have based your decision on.

However I do not subscribe to the idea (as i see it) that our resources are for sale to the highest bidder/our politicians cronies. I would like to see a few things being prioritized over the chance to make a quick buck. I don't really care where a person is from if they can tick these and similar boxes I would be happy to work with them. Sadly i don't believe that many of our our investors care about these thing any more than foreigners.

Our last election was billed as a 'climate change' election until the Liberals offered us a few hundred bucks in tax rebates. Then it became the "we can buy you off for a few hundred bucks" election.

IMHO we have the same problems as the UK. Murdoch pulling the strings of the electorate with dubious/fake news is not, in my opinion, democratic. Throw in the likes of Cambridge Analytica and I am not sure we stand a chance.

I thought as much from what you’ve alluded to on previous posts. The world feels a very depressing place politically right now, as if we’re waiting for something seismic to happen as a consequence of decades of rotten practices. Bit not in a good way. The calm before the gathering storm like.

Actually it was more simply nobody liked Shorten. So the same problem as UK Labor.

They pushed leaders nobody wanted leading or liked that much.

I find the political outlook heartbreaking at the moment. I hold onto a little optimism though. The good will out!

They simply read as your way of belittling the people who don't agree with you as being less enlightened than you and incredibly easy to sway. Saying they were bought off and that Murdoch duped them all is the same garbage that's trotted out every time Labor gets beaten. It's always someone else's fault.

Maybe Labor just has a lot more unlikeable party members that don't connect with people in any shape, way or form.

There is a lot of assumption in your post and much of it unfair.

I wasnt talking about why Shorten got smashed I was talking about my thoughts on the current political process.

It is probably worth noting here that I am far from a labor voter. Full disclosure would show that I put them above the Liberals in my preferences as I consider them the lesser if two evils.

I am sorry you read into my posts the idea that I am belittling others as less enlightened than me. I disagree entirely. I am aware that I am as easily influenced as the next man.

The point I am making is that it concerns me how much influence we allow over the decision making of our electorate. The evident false and misleading reporting across our media is in my opinion undemocratic.
