Australia Day, No Way!!

What are you on about?

Australia day has nothing to do with Patron saints.

And perhaps you've missed it but St Patrick actually was a Briton, so he's more "english like" than St George who came from around Asia Minor, Turkey way.

So why are you all in a huff when St Patricks day is more British than St George day could ever be I'm not sure.

I am not British though.........I am English. So why no England Day then?

Last year I went to the Metropole on St Georges Day and saw the late Bernard Manning, what a day!

St Patricks Day is a massive promotional push by Guinness more than anything. Maybe if there was a single omnipresent beer identifiable with England (Stella?) they could do a similar thing? Otherwise you just get the odd pub here and there going for it.

A Belgian beer.

The nature of beer is such that we don't have a 'national' beer, just those that are best marketed, such as John Smiths or Boddingtons. It's the same the world over.

So taking your suggestion the next logical step, people should drink their own regional English ale. Or, if you live in Sussex, your own local wine.
