The weather may not look great for the weekend, but Im tempted to head over to Waterhall after the Carlton game tomorrow morning to watch the Sussex Swans take on North London Lions. Ball up is 12.30 for the men, and 2.30 for the women.

Go Swannies!

All credit to Geelong on Saturday - Carlton just didn't have enough in the tank to wrestle the game away from them. Kicking was generally poor from the Blues (for a 2nd week in a row) with far too many behinds and easy missed chances. Too little too late in the end, but a great game of football to watch. Really need some of those injuries back on the field asap though.

After the game I cycled over to Waterhall to watch the Sussex Swans. What a great setup! Loads of players (both men and women's squads) marquees for both sets of teams, dozens of supporters, music playing, and a BBQ in full flow with drinks and snacks also available. Fantastic to see. Only watched the mens game as I was getting cold - but it was a really close fought game with London scoring at the death and winning a close one 6-3-39 to 5-3-33. The women were also defeated, but it was great to see the game being played up close at last, and so many people out enjoying it.

Cheers for coming down! I played full forward for the second and fourth quarters. Barely got on the ball but a couple of tackles I was quite pleased with!

You're so right about what an amazing club it is - massive community effort. I used to play 8-9 years ago and have just come back as my kids are a bit older - overwhelmed by the setup there now and such amazing people!

Really enjoyed it, and will try to get along to more when I can.
Is using Waterhall going to be a regular thing now, as you normally play in East Brighton Park or Preston Park?

I would check carefully any time you're coming down just in case but that is slated to be the ground for the next two home games - using the Gaelic pitch which is a similar length to an oval.

I'm not sure - I don't think the club runs a permanent online thing for merch although I will ask at training on Weds.

They were selling baseball caps, bucket hats and bottle openers on Saturday and I presume will have them again next time.

With lots on this weekend, it'll be the St Kilda game only for me unfortunately - but I'll be listening to the Carlton game tomorrow at work on the radio for sure.
