What's all that about?

a few years back our away end was DEAFENING. read lots on here from other clubs about how great our away following was.

2000 at Forest on Saturday, you hardly heard a peep apart from the first few mins and when we scored.

Same at Blackpool. same at most away games this season apart from probably Peterborough. Palace wasn't bad but still nowhere near how it was a few years back.

Has the "cauldron of noise" at The Amex put people off singing away?

We're not noisy anymore?

perhaps we are in a higher division so 2,000 away fans at most grounds in this League sound quieter than they did in League 1

Some pretty uninspiring away performances this season (as well as some great ones). Also, a much more diverse away support - I reckon a huge percentage of many away days this year have been people who don't usually go.

probably a bit of truth in these. harder to get noise going at a lot of the new grounds i suppose.

be grateful for the amex

I'm not convinced by that. It seems to be the same faces that I saw a few years ago. I think we're all just doing a few more games.

think its to do with half our away performances being very poor! Barnsley will be fun if we make it into the playoffs though

Actually agree with this! Not that I remember much from sat but I've been to 10 aways this season and have been underwhelmed at a fair few! Maybe we expect too much as we used to be very loud for large chunks of games!!

It's much like our away form, used to be very good, well a lot of the time,it's not as good this year, but still ok,something to do with the level we play at..

Blackpool was rocking for 25 minutes until we fell apart, most seemed more concerned that we'd be 4 or 5-1 down at half time than about making some noise. Forest was very strange, barely any noise at all which is very rare. Donny away was the same, fairly quiet. Compared to the last few years, i'm doing the same sort of away games but the noise is nowhere near as good as it has been in past years.

I think the 300-500 that went regularly over the last 15 years are still there, but then I think the ones who make up the extras are much more interchangeable. Might be wrong, but loads of away games this season I seem to recall big groups of lads, no colours, often with bags suggesting they are making a weekend of it, trying to get everyone singing "Seagulls" at the station, when personally it is way too early for me! Not trying to be high and mighty, the more the merrier, but I get the impression we are getting a lot more away fans who go for the odd one-off rather than regulars.

well, atmosphere away from home was a lot better in the days pre NSK/let's get crap foreign chants going/let's watch every video on youtube and find some songs to rip off.

Maybe it's them that are putting people off

Personally I think it's the childish competition and determination to be the 'best' fan that is developing. I was on the far left at Forest and it was loud at points, yet whenever I heard the right it was singing something completely different. If determined singers congregated at the back/middle as used to be the case, the atmosphere would be far better. For the record, I thought Forest was okay, although there were some utter jebends round me. And not the youngsters you have such a chip on your shoulder about, but grown men in their 40s who were f***ing embarassing trying to wind up the Forest fans 70 yards away instead of just supporting the team.

Ipswich, Peterborough and Cardiff were pretty good, especially Peterborough but I haven't been to many games this season. Birmingham was a bit quiet but I was towards the front. Compared to last season and the support at mk dons I haven't noticed a downturn.

Yea right.

I was going to really give it my all and holler out some of those great old Brighton chants ....

....... but oooh, the thought of that NSK crew has really put me off my stroke, I'll just stand here instead......
