Me - 05:42 after a couple of false starts.

Train at 09:30 from Brighton . All gate line ticket staff wearing Albion hats and scarfs.

These twin towns went Albion mad. More so than the 2017 promotion celebrations if you can believe that.

People were more passionate in those days. Bit the only warring I remember was at the replay.

Meopham, Kent.
Would have been about 7.30am. Wandered down with mum and dad, armed with towels to bag our lounger for the day, then headed in for breakfast.

Yes, we were on holiday in Majorca! When dad booked it back in September I reacted with "oh, I'll miss the Cup Final" and he responded with the now infamous words "well, it's not as if Brighton will get there." He agreed that if we did, then he would buy one of those new fangled Video Recorders, and it would have to be one of the more expensive ones as we'd need a 14 day timer, because it would be right near the end of our 2 week holiday. The idea (or indeed the risk of failure) or relying on a bar/restaurant showing the game didn't even enter our heads.

We got back on the Tuesday, and I threw myself straight on the floor to watch the game. Just as the game ended, my brother walked in with tickets for the Replay.

Up at the crack of dawn. I was in London by 10. FA cup meant something back then.
Smith must score.
Great days though.

About 4.00 pm (yes, in the afternoon). That's 8.00 am in Vancouver. Had to watch the game broadcast 'as live' (with ads, FFS) after it had finished.

Fair play finding a station screening it in any capacity.

I genuinely can’t remember what time I got up. Sadly, I didn’t go. Didn’t manage to get a ticket and have always regretted it bitterly. I think I blanked some of the experience out because I was both so excited and so disappointed not to be there.

Watched on the Telly whilst my annoying neighbour who was belligerently anti-football deliberately mowed the lawn whilst the game was on.

Up at 7am, couldnt sleep.
So cool in those days, cycled down to the hip rail station of Bexhill, met up with plastic school mates of a QPR persuasion.
Then travelled up in 2nd class style to good old London town.
Got to Wembley extra early to enjoy the atmosphere.
What a day it was :albion2:

Like you Doc, except for me, it was EDT in Toronto. We probably watched the same feed which meant the 'natural time' for ads was when there was a corner or throw in. I think they 'get it' now...

Great to see you in Liverpool.

My memory of the morning was all the DOUBLE DECKER BUSES lined up in the greyhound stadium car park. From there it was an escorted convoy out of town with crowds waving us off. Then we got lost in London.
On one occasion we stopped at a chip shop in Streatham, must have been the Saturday, and everyone jumped out for fish & chips. Why Streatham, because there was no M25!

I was living in Birkenhead (I was 14) and had developed some notoriety as the only Albion fan in the Merseyside school system. After we disposed of Liverpool at Anfield I'd been adored by the Everton contingent but given serious grief by the Red half of the class.

When we drew with United in the 1st final EVERYONE was my mate. I remember being lifted shoulder high on the Quad.

It was the time in my life when I felt massive pride in the Albion, I was also massively proud of my hometown...and I missed it terribly.

No idea what time I got up but my overriding memory of the day, football aside, was the way the upper tier floor moved up and down when Smith scored.

Woke up around 06:30, breakfast at 07:00, picked up the squadron keys for 07:30 from the guard house and made sure squadron was open and the tea brewing by 08:00.
I then spent most of the day working on a modification to a mk4 sea king at RNAS Yeovilton.

The person I was working for was a monster of a man, who was a cockney red by the name of Kieran O’Sullivan. He could have been John Balushi’s twin brother, mad as the largest box frogs on planet earth and came with a health warning. He was one of a number of youths who were given the choice of the arm forces or Borstal. According to Sully he want into the Navy as he could count and write.
I distinctly remembering him saying ‘ you win and I’ll f**cking kill you .... and it’ll be slow’.
Every time we scored he twatted me on the arm, everything time they scored he twatted me on the arm .... black and blue I was. He also threw a hammer at me and chased after me along the hard standing. He only stopped this when the tower phoned the squadron chief asking if they should be concerned that someone was chasing someone else with what appeared to be a hammer.
Sadly Sully died four years ago ..... whilst he gave me sh*t on cup final day he looked after me and he was a scream to be with. Runs ashore with Sully were biblical! Very much missed.
