This is a tough one, considering there are what, 40 players to pick from?!

My team would have to be

Kuipers ; Whing ; Elphick ; Heath ; McNulty (Borrowdale for now) ; Carole ; Birchall ; Bangura ; McLeod (set pieces only!) ; Murray ; Forster.
Subs - Sullivan ; Davies ; Hinshelwood ; Cox ; Livermore

For me the central midfield paitring is key & i dont think Jarrett is up to the job!! he is just way too hesitant on the ball.

I think the combination of Bangura & livermore will add steel & they are both capable of playing that killer ball.

Bangura looked a little bit blinkered in the pass to me, obviously it's only one game and he's not at full fitness, but I'm not sure we can rely on him to create too much, same with Livermore. I'd like to give Birchall a go in the centre, I think he'd do well for us breaking from the centre. Or even Cox, Wilkins always said that he would be a central midfielder, but he lacks the physique, clearly. I think we need to try something though, and I personally would plump for Birchall in the centre, but he's injured now isn't he. :(

I see your point there & time will tell i guess.

The right answer of course would be Bradley Johnson

The thing is with the CM position is that we dont have a goalscorer/attacking player to play there. Livermore, Bangura and Jarret are all defensive players where as last season we had El-Abd/thompson doing defensive duties and Hammond, Martot, Westlake or Racon running into space and testing the keeper. I can count the number of shots we have had from the midfield this season with one hand.

Doug Loft. He would score 10 goals a season if he played regularly, I have no doubts in the slightest.

All you need is Loft...

...Loft lifts us up where we belong.

I am a bit of a Loft fan - he certainly put a good shift in against Manchester City.

Not a fan of loans but probably Bangura is a better option than Livermore

Three defensive mids and one striker? We need to win games now...

Swap One of those centre mids for Birchall who is more likely to create something and you are on to something. However I don't think Forster should be dropped, wrong time to drop the captain.

It would be a 433 with two very attack minded wingers.

The best we have played this season is arguably against Man City, Leicester at home and Millwall at home. Forster didn't play in any of these, where as Murray operated superbly as more of a loan striker.

I think at the moment we need to be solid and difficult to beat. With confidence as fragile as it is, going behind early is something we have to avoid.

Start with a solid team, stay in the game, try and get the wide players bombing forward then, if we need to, throw Forster on with 20 minutes to go.

Also, other than playing two proper old school wingers backed up by a three man midfield I cannot really see any way of accomodating Carole without making a full back's life hugely difficult.
