If he had been found,I think we'd know.
I've always been a bit confused by that. For all we know, the club may have already dealt with it. It can't be a police case, as far as I know, because it took place in France, but the club could issue its own ban.

I suspect the police will be looking to give him a football banning order to prevent him travelling when we play away? That might be the angle they are coming at this from?I've always been a bit confused by that.
The fact is that Darren Balkham wants to identify the culprit, so there is certainly police involvement. Whether that is to build a case against the culprit here in the UK, assist French police in a case against him, should that apply, or even acting in liaison with / on behalf of the club, if that is possible, I have no idea.
I have it from an extremely reliable source that he has now given himself up.If he had been found,I think we'd know.
Fantastic news if confirmedI have it from an extremely reliable source that he has now given himself up.
That would be my thinking too, to prevent him travelling to England matches, if he was a member.I suspect the police will be looking to give him a football banning order to prevent him travelling when we play away? That might be the angle they are coming at this from?
Unless it is a very serious crime i.e Sexual offences or certain violent offences (Think serious GBH or murder etc) the police here rarely exercise the powers afforded them under Extraterritorial jurisdiction. I also doubt the French police are likely to be interested if the offender is no longer in France. The power here lies with the club who can exercise any sanction they see fit against a private individual. PC Balkham may be interested in order to assist the club but frankly he wouldn't have a clue how to prosecute anyone, hes been stuck in that same role over 20 years and rarely does any actual real police work...I've always been a bit confused by that.

You can't just give someone a football banning order, it has to form part of the sentence on conviction from a criminal case or one can be applied for through the court based on intelligence. Possibly might go that route if the fella can be identified. That would be my thinking too, to prevent him travelling to England matches, if he was a member.

Perhaps we can have an imprisonment or community service thread?I have it from an extremely reliable source that he has now given himself up.
Good that a court has banned him from all football foe 3 years. As our European adventure comes to an end, for now at least, I understand the man responsible for this incident in Marseille was in court yesterday and received a three-year football banning order.
And did they also cut off his goolies? As our European adventure comes to an end, for now at least, I understand the man responsible for this incident in Marseille was in court yesterday and received a three-year football banning order.
Yes, the club can ban anyone for however long they want.Good that a court has banned him from all football foe 3 years.
Does the club have the remit to go further with Albion/Amex attendance?
And might they do so?
