Why did NSC suddenly become a hotbed of news for what might be happening at Bumley?

My guess is the season's over and people quite enjoy watching the meltdown take shape at Burnley? I know I do.

I’d love to see him back, but I think we’re past the stage of old players coming back for their last season now. Even though it’s worked out well previously.

Absolutely smacks of "desperate late August signing after we've failed to land a proper striker in the hope of shutting the fans up"

Bloody hope not! I think the club are above tha sort of desperation now anyway.

Desperation is going with Connolly as a first team striker last season having failed to land Nunez

He made 4 appearances last season , playing just a few minutes at Watford, Southampton, Wolves and Palace.

Not the point, he was named in the first team squad because we hadn’t signed anybody. The low minutes was more to do with his complete lack of impact I imagine

Each to their own but imo it was pretty desperate to even name him in the squad given that since THAT Spurs game he had looked very out of his depth in PL games

GP doesn’t get much wrong on the player front but this time he did…again just imo

Technically he wasn't named in the first team squad as he was an U21 last season so didn't need to be named in the 25.

He'll have to be named in the 25 if he's to be part of the team this coming season though.

On the subject of Ashley Barnes, why would we want someone who is a year older, played less minutes and scored less goals than Danny Welbeck in both of the last two seasons?

No. I always loved AB and was really sorry to see him go at the time, but that ship has long sailed.

I'm happy with the memories of him, Murray and Wood at Withdean

(and no, I wouldn't want them back either).

I said earlier that I’d have him back when Burnley went down but I’ve just seen that he is 33 in October. I think it’s the Championship for him now with my blessing.

Relying on Chris O Grady as your main striker , in hindsight was “desperate” in 2014/15. Having Connolly in our squad, and then playing him a few times off the bench with Welbeck and Maupay and Trossard scoring multiple goals ahead of him in 2021/22 was not.
