England's 2018 World Cup bid has been criticised by Fifa over training camps, hotel provision and government guarantees, the BBC has learned.

However, the world governing body's inspection report has graded England's bid as low risk, along with those of rivals Spain and Portugal, and Russia.

Spain and Portugal are also criticised in the report over the challenges posed by a joint bid.

Russia's transport links are also highlighted as a potential problem.

The Netherlands and Belgium, who are also jointly bidding to host the tournament, are the only bidders to be graded medium risk.

The inspection report will provide the basis on which Fifa executive committee members will decide who wins the bid on 2 December.

England face coming third behind Russia and the Spain/Portugal bid unless they can mount a dramatic fightback.

More to follow.

We can only hope and pray that global infrastructure specialists FIFA give our poor developing nation the chance to host such a major sporting event!

:lolol: Potential problem :lolol:

To be perfectly honest, I hope they pick Russia and it fails miserably.

FIFA is the Devil.

I kind of get the feeling that unless you hold the hand of an FIFA delegate and help him across the road " oh look there's a brown envelope on the floor, is that yours" Our trouble is we are too honest. If South Africa can put on a world cup then anyone can. I was there for the cricket world cup, Cape Town, Durban and Port Elizabeth, and I can assure you there were a lot of locals who didnt know it was happening.

Training camps, hotel provisions my arse, we cater for royal weddings for heavens sake. !!

Am I the only one who doesn't want us to get it?

Fatbadger, I too am a Jocko, I dearly wish we can gain this world cup, I believe (Ibrox, Hampden, the piggery in the east end of Glasgow and possibly Murrayfield) will be included). To take my son will be a real legacy,

Having visited these stadiums many times and given the stadiums we have in England and possibly the Millennium stadium, if included, we know we have the infrastructure and management to hold such an event

The problem for our successful bid is clear in 2 words......Michel Platini....he hates the Brits. Looking at Seasiders original comment, its clear we wont pay bribe money. Russia, its all yours it was always clear you are prepared to act in this way...enjoy your world cup when it comes round, I for one have no desire to attend (probably not a problem though as I'm Scottish)

Is that Michel Platini, the head of UEFA?

Or is there another Michel Platini who works for FIFA who actually organise the FIFA World Cup?

Oh, and I've mentioned this before but I'll mention it again - if Milton Keynes is one of our chosen cities, we don't deserve to host the World Cup.

no. part of the fun of the world cup/euros is flying off somewhere different, stadiums we more than likely were never at before and all that goes with that. watching some games at stadiums in england that we've all been to plenty times before is not so appealing.

euro96 wasn't so fun as going elsewhere for the same tournament because seeing the games here is normal.

any mention of little (or fat?) brown envelopes..?

I've said before, it is not down to this. The bid has been chaotic from the start. The bid team has never been stable due to various forced and voluntary resignations. The team is inept when it comes to politiking, wrong-or-right you have to play the game if you want a successful bid: handbags, f***ing off Jack Warner and the bizarre failure to present at that 'heads of football' thing in London earlier in the year spring to mind. And recently getting involved in that spat with Russia, demanding an apology, did not help. Again, they're just not politically savvy enough. Add the British press into the mix and you have failure.

when the british press expose allegations of bribery in fifa, rather than them thanking us, and trying to get their house in order, they say "right, no world cup for you."

i HATE fifa.
