I work in Lancing and despite it's run down look in areas, such as toytown, it is not that bad, a bit chav in places, but don't most areas have that.
The folk in Lancing may look rough and ready and always had that reputation of hard blokes and there seems a high percentage here, but I think that is because most I know or have dealings with are trades people, working in hard manual labour labour or skilled workers hands on.

They tried recently to change the name and image to Lancing by Sea or something to make it more attractive to investment and tourism etc.
That failed, I have noticed a divide in Lancing actually those the other side of the 27 in North Lancing look down on those in South Lancing.

Clamp you have a great spot over the green then, the prices will only go up where you are.

A sidenote, those moaning about all the flats going up in Shoreham at the moment, think on you can't have everything, as you maybe the same people who moan about house prices shooting up and their children and grandchildren not being able to afford to get on the housing ladder, many of these projects include a healthy number of assisted living as in partnerships including housing associations.

Since I was born in Shoreham back in 1969 things have changed unrecognisably, but in my opinion it has changed for the better overall.

All good in the hood.
There are certainly a lot of ground workers and growling scaffolders in Lancing .

Easy enough to avoid, just don’t go into the Rainbow on a Friday morning 😂

If you fancy a chat about the Albion, there’s a few diehard fans in the Rainbow every morning. Often get into a conversation with a few of them.

The sausages and bacon in there are not very nice but most of their food is spot on and reasonably priced. And they do pints of proper orange juice. Most welcome.

Re Lancing - Meze Meze, the Greek restaurant down near Beach Green is quite nice.

As for Shoreham Cafe's we Drift a while ago (previously Toast) and the service was very slow. The little greasy spoon opposite the Crabtree was cheap and cheerful but not been there since it changed hands.

You done well to hold your tongue after that 'Im not worried' comment she gave you!
I have to say, I held back because I was very hungry and I find it hard to judge my anger levels when I’m “hangry”, so I just keep my mouth shut incase I go too far and regret ruining my own day through being overly angry about something that really doesn’t matter in the big scheme.

But yeah, she did get my blood up.

I really like The Buckingham, its had a nice refurb and they keep it spotlessly clean. Sky Sports as well, but seemingly without the scum that often comes with it. I quite often mince along there for a lunchtime game and a peruse of the Sundays.

The Buck is a great pub. The back garden is a hidden gem.

It is indeed. Even an outside TV, I watched a few Euros games there the other summer. Shame it doesn't do some SCRAN though. I asked why, they said "there's too many other places around here that do it".

Well, the nearest place to there I ordered food from was at the Crabtree, over the other side of the station. There, I received the worst sausage sandwich ever presented to man. This abomination comprised of a couple of miserable barely-cooked Richmonds, concealed (congealed ?) within two slices of paper-thin Tesco own brand bread. And a sprinkling of stale kettle chips on the side. I'd rather have eaten my own armpit.

Ha! I’ve had a nice roast at the Crabtree but that was about 5 years ago.

The Buck used to do food. It had a nice kitchen. But in a move I can only admire, Keith the owner got rid to “make room for more drinkers”.

That’s bold in these times.

Customer service is not rocket science.

Clamp: I was after a cooked breakfast. Not to worry.
Artisan: I'm sorry, we don't do cooked breakfasts, but we can do you a bacon and egg sandwich?
Clamp: Yes, please.
Artisan: Would you like to go large with two eggs and two rashers?
Clamp: Yes, all right then.

Or something along those lines. It's not difficult.
Isn't that cooked?

Good God man, how old are you ?

Further more your NOT selling it "the sausage and bacon in the there are not very nice"

Shoreham is a bit grim now isn’t it unless you’re on the lash. Lived there for the first 20 years of my life, I’m not even 30 and hate what it’s become.

The amount of new blocks of flats going up is ridiculous, all for the DFL crowd to continue to gentrify the absolute shit out of it. I’m worried about when Lancing follows.
Can’t say I’m happy with all the developments along the coast road ..without any improvements in the infrastructure….but I wouldn’t classify my home town as grim ..I still like living here

I miss Shoreham it's where I was born, went to school, had my first under age drink, rowed for Shoreham, played football for Shoreham Utd and Greenjacket.
Can't see myself ever affording to get back there or the UK even.

Haha! don’t worry, it’s not a regular haunt of mine 🤣

I used to go in there once a week until I had a bit of a chat with myself and now don’t go in there. It was my solo hangover place. One could blend in, even with the most toxic of hangovers.

I barley drink anymore, coincidentally I don’t go there anymore either. Funny that 🤣

Shoreham-by-Sea
Moved to Shoreham from Hove 6yrs ago. I was very apprehensive at first, but absolutely love it here. Beach, River, Downs, The Welly. Can't ever see myself leaving the place.

Another shout for the little cafe next to the florists (opposite the crabtree), had a decent brekkie in there a couple of months back.

Lancing is fine, bit rough round the edges but I quite like that. The beach is great, loads of sand at low tide and the water is usually crystal clear (so long as Southern Water aren't filling it with Richard the Thirds).

Shoreham will always have charm. And a place in my heart.

I’m probably priced out of it now but if they put a halt to the building I’d consider a move back in a few years. I’m definitely gonna wait and see how all this development goes first and how much its population increases.

It seems every spare bit of land is being bought up by developers.
